They claimed that they were merely on a long range "training flight" when they were forced down at Halifax by weath er. Delivery of the bomber to Israel fighting forces would constitute a violation of the U. S. ban on ship ment of arms to the Holy Land, authorities said. Hightower Still On Journey PRINCETON, N. J. OP) Larry Hightower passed through here with the 103-pound wheelbarrow he says he is pushing around the! world. The husky, tanned, 47-year-old veteran of World War 1 estimated that he has traveled 17,381 miles through 19 states, Canada and Mexico since he started out on the junket from his EUensburg, Wash., home. Hightower thought up the wheelbarrow pushing idea because he wanted to do something no one else had done, he explained. He is making his way down U. S Route 1 through New Jersey en route to New York. Hoover, supersonic test pilot, has been awarded the Octave Chanute Award for 1948 for flight research at speeds around that of sound. Hoover, 36 and a native of Knoxville, Tenn., is a research pilot for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics. The NACA announced that the Chan' ute Award was made by the In stitute of the Aeronautical Sci' ences at its annual summer meet ing in Los Angeles. The flier gained national at tention recently as one of the first to reach speeds faster than that of sound in the Bell XS-1 rocket plane. In seven years with NACA he has made 2,500 flights In 50 different types of aircraft. New Treatment Advised For Mental Ailments COLUMBUS, O. U.R Psycho somatic medicine is suggested as the treatment for those two-thirds of man's ills which include mind and emotional disturbances. Dr. Edward Weiss, professor of clinical medicine at Temple Uni versity, explained that psycho' somatic medicine is the "simul taneous application of psycholog ical and physiological analysis in the search for the cause of ill nesses." The treatments are designed for those patients presenting no or ganic basis to explain their symp toms and for the equally large patient group that presents symp toms out of all proportion to the organic causes. Setting Hen Adopts Five Cocker Puppies MIDLAND CITY, Ala. (UB A setting hen belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Barney Childrees here has: adopted .five cocker spaniel pup pies. The pups were born in the hen' nest. Biddy took over, driving off Queenie, the dog mother. The hen shelters the puppisS at night with her wings, and gamely prepares for battle when they are ap' proached. Only when the pups are hungry do they turn to their mother. Maxey absent-mindedly drove through a newly erected stop sign on a down town street.
