Tillman, Seattle, conducted an NLRB hearing Tues day in the courthouse to hear evidence on the question of a union election for the employes of the Johnson Lumber Co., which has operations at Blachly and Junction City. A decision ordering an elec tion or rejecting the union's peti tion for an election was not ex pected until all evidence had been heard and considered, prob ably later this week. The union, Local 2521, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, asked for an NLRB election to cover the saw mill workers at Blachly. The company asked that if an election be held, it Include the planing mill workers at Junction City as well as the sawmill workers. named. Forty Crash Victims On Identified List CENTRALIA, Pa. (U.B The bodies of 40 of the 43 persons killed Thursday when a United Air Lines DC-6 crashed into a hillside near here . have been identified, officials said Monday. Those still unidentified were .Vthur B. Smith, New York City; Parker W. Silzer, Metuchen, N.J., and N. V. Pessin, Los Angeles. It was expected they would be identified Monday. The bodies of Producer EarJ Carroll and Mrs. Venita Varden Oakie, divorced wife of Movie Star jack Oakie, were identified Saturday night. The body of Mrs. Oakie was identified by a maid who came l.ere with Oakie. Car roll's body was identified through fingerprints. A union security clause will be drawn up in the next few days, according to Mrs. Alice Bissell, secretary-treasurer of the local. Mrs. Bissell and Attorneys Wilson and Shaw will attend for the lo cal, and Attorney W. P. Riddles barger and H. H. Howard for the cannery. Adjustment and reclassification of Schedule A will be taken up by special committees of three each from the union and the com pany. The committees will be ap pointed and start work in i the near future. ' Attending the Western Can nery Council in Bellingham, Wash., this weekend will be R. J. Bundrant, president of the local, Mrs. Bissell, Nella Endicott, re cording secretary, and William Skeel, Ted Vie and Wayne Bender from the local. Brundrant, Mrs. Bissell and Nella Endicott will remain to attend the conference of the 11 western states June 28 through July 3, and Mrs. Bissell will attend the State Federation of Labor convention. An NLRB election for union shop will be held later, when both plants start operating. The date will be announced. Driver Arrested After Collision Don Jones, 273 Washington St., was arrested for driving without an operator's permit Monday at 1 p.m. following a collision involv 'ng his truck and a sedan driven by Ruth Hessy, 1185 28th Ave. E. The "accident, at 22nd. and Al ter, did an estimated $200 dam age to the sedan but only slight damage to tne truck. Lloyd Self, a passenger in Jones' truck, was slightly Injured in tne misnap and was taken to the University of Oregon infirm ary for treatment of bruises. Still Agin' Nujists WASHINGTON OP) The Su preme Court has refused to con sider an attack on a Los Ange les ordinance barring nudist camps. The law bans operation of any place "where three or more per sons not all of the same sex are permitted to commingle in the nude." The ordinance was attacked by Lura D. Glassey, who was sen tenced to 180 days in the city jail. She said the premises where she was arrested were run by the Fra ternity Elysia, an organization which believes in nudism. The Supreme Court last Octo ber refused to consider a similar appeal by Lura Glassey. There are eleven high waterfalls within an 11-mile section of the Columbia River Highway. Airport Safety Said Bettered Improved fire protection for the Mnhlon Sweet airport facili ties and safeguards against plane fires have been provided through completion of a fire substation at the airport, City Manager Deane Seeger reported Tuesday. The building also will house an emergency power generator to be supplied by the Eugene Water Board. The foundation for this equipment already has been pre pared. The city manager said that a fire truck formerly used by the Eugene department has been put in shape for use at the airport and now is located In the new building.
