Bird Gets Home
Via Chimney
REDMOND (U.R) The baby
Robin named Santa Claus refused
to fly away from his rescuer, and
Miss Lucile Ward, who operates a
bird sanctuary, reported he had
taken up living quarters in her
home.
The Robin fell down a chimney
apparently making his first at
tempt at flight. He was rescued
from the ashes barely alive, given
nourishment through a medicine
dropper and promptly named San
ta because of his chimney descent.
After recovering his hcilth,
Santa was offered his freedom.
But he had become so attached to
his new home that he refused to
fly away.
TWO-FOOT RATTIiEJR KILLED
A two-foot timber rattlesnake
which he found in his woodshed
was killed June 18 by Jesse
Blocher, Rt. 2, Springfield. The
snake was discovered just inside
the door by Tommy Blocher.
When killed it was found to have
eight rattles and a button.
