Phone 2034 Portland Women Is Guest Speaker At YWCA Dinner Miss Essie Maguire of Portland, executive director of the Portland YWCA, will be the speaker at the annual membership meeting of the City YWCA Thursday evening at the Community Center. A pot luck dinner will be held at six thirty o'clock, for which members are asked to make reservation by Thursday noon, by telephoning the Y. The program, which will be held before the business meet ing and election of officers, will include the following numbers: Doxology: greeljngs and intro ductions, Mrs. L. B. Schmidt, chairman of membership Inter pretation committee: group sing ing, led by Miss Jean Goodwin: violin duet. Misses June Kelso and Mary Lou Watts, Miss Jackie Meisel accompanist. Quota Has Party To Raise Moneys For Service Work Ways and Means committee of Eugene Quota Club staged its an nual "January Clearance" party Monday evening, at a politick din ner in the auditorium of the YMCA-YWCA Community Center. Members of the committee fur nished baked ham and hot-breads, and those attending brought other contributions, but paid the treas ury for the meal. Guests were in troduced during a brief session conducted by the president, Miss Mardelle Edwards. Mrs. Ralph Land was Introduced as program chairman. A Barber Shop quartet, known as "The Plungers, and comprised of Ray Marlatt; Frank Graham, Ted Wood and Bob Hirt. sang sev eral selections for the group. Following the dinner, there was an auction, a bazaar sale and sev eral money-raising games Were played. More than a hundred dol lars was realized during the eve ning for the club's service proj ects.
