The board tentatively approved standards which high schools must meet to obtain basic school sup port funds. Mrs. Opal Doty, rural school supervisor, and Miss Delsing, county health nurse were visitors at Alvadore grade school Thurs day afternoon, to check the chil dren. The young people's class of the Alvadore Church were guests at the Macabee place Sunday after noon and got Christmas trees. 117 U .1 J . Mrs. Drlica is a sister of Mrs. Don Wicks and has spent some time recently visiting Mrs Wicks and her mother, Mrs. Huf- ford, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lanning are staying at Bine McKenzie Lodge in the absence of the own ers, Mrs. Alice Holly and Charles Law who are spending the noli days with relatives in southern California. Mrs. Arthur D. Douglas, dauglv ter of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Hincs has jointed her husband, Captain Douglas in Honolulu. Capt. Doug las is stationed at Scofield Bar racks. Mr. and Mrs. Don Meyer have moved to their home on Rose St.. purchased from the Bart Tate heirs. AT FRANKLIN FRANKLIN The play cast who took their program to Goldson Grange Friday, report a good crowd and pies sold for $1245. This is a 50 SO split between Franklin and Goldson Grange. Home made candy was also sold on a 50 50 basis. Mr. Brewer, who had his leg broken in a woods accident, June 2, has had the cast removed but can'i walk for at least three weeks. R. T. Stingley who is in the Sacred Heart hospital is re. ported much better. Ed Sprague left a few days ago for a visit with his son in California. Mr. and Mrs. Hank Stickles who I left here last June and located at Little River, Calif., write that they like their new home. Pfc Melvin Phillips who left Oct. 22 after a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Phillips of Walton writes that he is stationed on Guam and is a file clerk in Transportation Dept. week to a birthday party in honor of her daughter Betty's tenth an niversary.. Art Louden of the Alvadore Grocery caught a nine and one half lb. salmon on a recent fish ing trip. Walter Hill' purchased ten head of cows on a recent trip to Iowa. Merril Hill is on the sick list but is much improved. L. M. Duval of Snnnefielri Is helping, his son, Lindsey Duval, build a barn. A new transformer has been hung where the Duval's plan to move their house as soon ! as weather permits. Harold Nick- erson is in the U. S.
