McMinnville
Men Set Visit
: Four carloads of McMinnville
men art scheduled to arrive in
Kugene at S p.m. March 26 on a
good neighbor tour of Central and
Southern Oregon, sponsored by the
Oregon Advertising Club and the
McMinnville Chamber or com
merce. The group will leave Portland
early March 25, and will spend
two days visiting Chambers of
Commerce in 13 cities, as a part
of acquainting themselves with the
tourist possibilities about tne state.
Police Chief L. L. Fittenger an
nounced Friday that city police
would start clearing the parking
area around the Eugene Hotel in
front of the Chamber of Commerce
office at 8 p.m. on March 26, so
that the caravan would be able to
top without losing time looking
for parking spaces nearby.

Hours for Vacation
Dr. R. C. Swank, University of
Oregon library head, has an
nounced the library hours for
spring vacations as follows:
Friday, March 21, and Monday,
March 31: 8 a. m. to 6 p. m.; Sat
urday, March 22 through Saturday,
March 28: 8 a. m. to 5 p. m.; closed
Sundays, March 23 and 30.

Vivien Kellems, former F,u-

Louisa Kellems of this city, Friday
was voted the best dressed Amer
ican woman in the business world
by the Fashion Academy of New
Vork City.

home for feeble-minded persons in
Salem.
The legislature had asked the

of moving the Fairview Home to
Camp White, near Medford. The
state could get the institution for
nothing from the government, but
the board's committee said oper
ating costs would be great, and
that the buildings are so scattered
that it would be uneconomical.

of the camellia society are hoping

The show is a display and no prizes
are given.

Pvt. Earl L. Lundquist, Eugene,
is now serving with the 674th
parachute field artillery battalion
of the 11th Airborne Division In
Jlnmachi, Honshu Island, Japan.
His present duty is' training with
the machine gun section.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W.
Taylor, Crow Stage Rt, Eugene,
Lundquist entered the service in
September, 1846, and arrived over
seas in January, 1847.

Set Yearly Banquet
The second annual county 4-H
Club leaders' banque. will be held
at Colin Kelly Junior high school
Saturday at 6:45 p.m.
Highlight of the evening's pro

Safety Experts Give
Classes in First Aid
Employes of ' Eugene Water
Board are taking first aid train
ing classes under the accident pre
vention division of the State In
dustrial Accident Commission, it
was announced Thursday.
Six lessons on consecutive Mon
day nights will be taught by Dr.
George Fiaak, commission instruc
tor who recently concluded five
other training series in Lane
County.
The commission announced that
a series of three classes in indus
trial training are being held this
week for employes of Eugene

G. Rodgers as instructor.
