Bonus Plans
By UNITED PRESS
State lawmakers have proposed
the payment of veterans' bonuses
totalling several hundred million
dollars, a survey showed Friday.
In some states, however, passage
of the bonus laws may be deferred,
and in still others the methods of
financing the. bonus must be ap
proved by the voters.
In general, the bonus proposals
would provide for payment of
specific sums to veterans on the
basis of the time they spent in
service, with larger payments for
time spent overseas.
Bonus bills have been submitted
in the state legislatures of Michi
gan, Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma,
Nebraska, Minnesota, Nevada, New
Jersey, Colorado, Iowa, Wisconsin,
Pennsylvania, South Dakota, In
diana and Connecticut.
Illinois already has passed a
soldier's bonus, and payments are
scheduled to begin next summer.

bers of the House Armed Serv

speedy action on Army proposals
for changing the Articles of War
