Junior First Citizen Banquet Tickets Sold Tickets to the Junior Chamber of Commerce banquet Friday night, honoring Robert Cross, Eu gene's junior First, Citizen, were on sale Tuesday with every mem ber of the Jaycees and at the Chamber of Commerce office, Eu gene Hotel. Hale Thompson and Maurle Ja cobs, co-chairman of the banquet committee, announced that tickets would cover all the evening's cele bration, beginning at 6 p. m. with a "Cheerio Hour" in the Assem bly Room of the Eugene Hotel, and including the banquet in the Persian Room at 7:30 and the dance, in the same room, at :au p. m. Honorary plaques will be pre sented at the banquet to five other outstanding junior citizens of Eu gene, Jacobs said, with awards based on assistance to service pro jects in Eugene during 1946. ' C. Lofton Tatum, national vice- president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, will be an honor guest at the banquet, as well as Merle Nash, Oregon Jaycee president. Eva Leona Norwood Eva Leona Norwood, 29, Chula Vista, Calif., died in that city Sunday. Born April 17, 117, at Eugene, she was married at Springfield to Rubin Norwood June 15. 1943. She was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly or. God Church. Surviving ate her widower; her mother. Mrs. Violet Pullen, Camas Valley; her grandmother, Mary E. Clark, Springfield; a Drotner, Robert Fletcher, Bremerton, Wash.; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Peckham, Portland, Mrs. Mildred Standiford and Mrs. pearl cooper, both of Springfield; and several other relatives. Funeral services will be an nounced later. Mary L Luther' Mary i turner, iu, oi mo ram St.. died Saturday at her home. She was born Sept 12, 1876, In New York, and later worked as a settlement worker and teacher in Michigan. In 1911 she moved to Los Angeles, and in 1933 to Ore gon. For the past six years she lived in Eugene, and was a mem ber of the First Church of Christ Scientist. Her only survivors are cousins in the east. Private services were held at Poole-Larsen Mortuary, with con. eluding services at Eugene Creimv torlum. . . United1 Air Lines has announc ed that within 90 days it will in stall refrigerated walk-in boxes at Eugene and eight other key Doints along its nationwide svs- ftem to provide for special handl ing of perishable air freight ship ments. Each box will have a capacity of 620 cubic feet and in' terior temperatures can be set from 0 to 45 degrees Fahrenheit. These new units, coupled with United's refrigerated Cargolin ers make it possible for flowers and other perishables to- be kept at desired -temperatures from the time they are brought to the air port until they reach their des tination and are picked up by the consignee. The new refrlger tion facilities also will be install ed at Boston, Cleveland, Omaha, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Sac ramento, Denver and Oakland.
