We continue our consideration of the name of the members of the New. Testament church. From the above quoted scripture , we leam that "Christian" is the name for the members of that body to wear. If human names are added to that name, then those who make the addition go beyond what is written (2 Jno. 9). They sin in this. Further more, those who willingly wear the human names also do wrong.- This Is a serious matter, and It should engage the attention of the many religionists who are wearing names of human origin. Many men of the past have had a great deal to say about this consideration. Con sider the words of Spurgeon and Luther. "I say of the Baptist name, let it perish, but let Christ's name last forever. I look for ward with pleasure to the day when there will not be a Bap tist living. I hope they will soon be gone. I hope the Baptist name will soon perish: but let Christ's name endure forever." Spurgeon Memorial Library, Vol. 1, p. 188. "I pray you to leave my name alone, and call not vour selves Lutherans, but Chris tians. Who Is Luther? My doctrine is not mine. I have not been crucified for anyone. St. Paul would not let any call themselves after Paul, nor of Peter, but of Christ How then, does It befit me, a miserable bag of dust and ashes, to give my name to the children of God? Cease, my dear friends, to cling to these party namesj and distinctions: away with all; and let us call ourselves only Christians after him from 1 AnMrlnm rnmM." The Life of Luther, by Stork, p. 289.
