Here Commended
High commendation has been
.riven the officers and men of the
Oregon state guard in Eugene,
following federal inspection by
Capt. Frederick C. Sullivan, regu
lar army instructor and inspector
for the Oregon state guard.
Captain Sullivan said, "Re
sponsible officers are to be com
mended on the high degree of
training the state guard units
showed at the annual inspection
of the guard. The people of
Eugene may well be proud of
the showing made."
The three detachments of the
guard, Company M, the medical
detachment, and headquarters de
tachment, stood for inspection the
first three nights of this week.

University Here
A total of 103 veterans have
registered at the University of
Oregon for winter term classes
under the G. I. "bill of rights,"
records compiled at the end of
the first week of registration
show.
Fall term registrations for
veterans totaled 76. Of these,
15 failed to return for winter
term. Forty-two new veterans
signed up for classes the week
of Jan. 2. Total registration for
all and winter term Is 118, Dean
