Western Governors Ask Federal Road Aid PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 12. U Northwest governors meeting here tonight announced that they would ask congress , to enact the post-war financing bill which would give the five states $750,- 000,000 for highway construction. Com. Hanns Sent To New Post CHARLESTON, S. C Lieu tenant Commander Satolli W. Hanns, USN, formerly of 1287 Oak street, Eugene, Ore., has re ported for duty at Wilmington, N. C as executive officer ot the sixth naval district commission ing detail. He was formerly assigned as officer in charge of the commis sioning detail ot the Charleston navy yard and was succeeded in that position by Lieutenant Commander H. M. Ericsson, USN, of West Hampton Beach, Long Island, New York. A veteran of 36 years' in the navy, Commander Hanns was in Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941, when the Japs attacked, and came through without Injury, though his ship was bombed and strafed. The guns on his vessel were among the first to spit back at the Japs after the surprise attack. He has spent considerable time In Alaskan waters and was in the thick ot the Aleutian Islands 1 ties and children who desire will jbe assigned to platoons super vised by adults.
