Harried Guests The Russian, guests not only are destitute, having -been evicted from their rooms In the city, but have over them the threat of ar rest for a worthless check which they gave the landlord; only by financing a play they have written can they hope to escape their dif ficulties. It is soon evident that between Nikolai and Natasha there has been more than casual friendship, and Helen's jealousy is aroused. . Enough of the story! But oh. those delightful, mirth-provoking situations with which the play is filled! The Urea Mr. Fields, sub mitting to Natasha's massage of his neck, wincing and jerking un- scene changes i der it, yet striving politely to fol low Tonia s flights of fancy; the furious squabble which closes the first scene, as the Russian temper aments clash; Grandmother Field's slightly tipsy state at the eve ning party for her birthday; the hilarious bedroom scene, where the irrepressable Larry does drunken strip-tease; Nikolai on his knees before the scornful Natasha; Tonia's distress over her feeling for Fields ,and his misun derstanding; Olga's staunch de fense of her Americanism and in dependenge: the wonderful poison scene these are bits to, remem ber, but the whole thing is filled with color and enjoyment. Dorothy Parks and- Laura Nidever were directors of -the play; Ken Griffith, production manager; Horace Robinson had charge of lighting; Valetta Arthurs, and Pat Colerick, of properties! Roger Houglum and Bruce Nide ver, music; Mary Krenk, costumes. Lois Newman was chairman of the box office; Hazel Lyle of ushers, and Lucille Titus of refreshments. Calif., July 21 (U.Rl Japanese internees at the Tule Lake segregation center were asked by Project Director Ray H. Bitt to begin election' today of a new ijolice force from among their mem'.iers after a mass resignation late yesterday of 72 colonial police. The resignation of the Japanese police, all residents of the camp, left the center without internal protection except for 44 war relo cate r. authority internal security police, and came as a climax to a gradual disintegration of the force since the unsolved murder July 2 ot Yaozo Hitomi, general manager of the cooperative enterprises of the center. The force at one time numbered 113, WRA said. The police said they resigned because they had re ceived threats against their lives. Meanwhile two U. S. citizens of Japanese descent were arrested at the center for violation ot federal sedition and conspiracy laws, and were being held today in Eureka, California, facing charges ot aid ing residents of the Heart Moun tain center, Wyo., in avoiding U. S. military service.
