Orsoea i Oregon Army Loses to Abbot CAMP ABBOT, Jan. 10 The Camp Abbot Engineers registered a double victory over the Oregon Army quintet in a week-end series here, taking the opening game Saturday night 41-36 and the finale Sunday by a 39-37 count. It was the first competition of the season for the University of Oregon ASTU team, coached by John Warren. The Oregon Army la scheduled to play the Camp Adair Trail blazers at Camp Adair next Sat urday night and will open its home season at McArthur court in Eugene Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock against the Tillamook Naval Air Base Middies. The Abbot Engineers, loaded with ex-eolleglate stars, took an early lead over the Oregon Army Saturday night and held a 2S-12 advantage at halftime. The game was-changed, after originally being scheduled for Sweet Home Tuesday, Junction will be heavily favored, and will probably have a starting unit composed of Lyon and Lar son at forwards, Nelson at center, and Rasmussen and Davenport at guards. Tuesday night, the Eugene Axemen play at St. Mary's in an inter-city contest, that finds the Axemen favored as the result of an earlier win in the infantile paralysis tournament earlier in the year. In the preliminary tilt, Coach Duane Mellem's EHS sophomores meet the St. Mary's sophs starting at 1p.m. Also on Tuesday night, the Pleasant Hill quintet risks its un defeated record at Springfield. So far the Billies are undefeated, and have downed most of their 'A' and 'B' opponents rather easily. Because of various reasons there was a special match be tween Elton Owen and Leo Kar linko. The one fall tilt might lead to a rough, nothing-barred grudge battle in the near future. The grudge betweem Owen and Kar linko has been stewing for some time and came to a head Satur day. The opener of the evening was between Pierre LaBelle and Ernie Piluso. It was a scientific match with Piluso comiag out on top with two falls to LaBelle i one. The first fall went to Piluso in 10 minutes with a small package. LaBelle came through after four minutes of the second fall had gone by with a Boston crab. Pil uso caught LaBelle in the midst of a Sonnenberg and downed him with a body press in four minutes for the third fall. Elton Owen turned his refereeing job over to LaBelle in the semi-final to go into the ring with Jack Riser. Owen won both the first and second falls from Kiser. The first fall was won with a leg stopper in 19 minutes. The second fall required two minutes, with a cross-over toe hold. By the time the semi-final match was over, Karlinko had fi nally arrived and was standing in the ring demanding a match. El ton Owen agreed to tackle him for a one-fall match. The tilt lasted four minutes while both Owen and Karlinko were putting all they could toward winning.. Kar linko finally downed Owen with a Boston crab. CP The nation's high school football code underwent three surgical opera tions during the annual meeting of the National Interscholastic Foot ball committee. - The rules changes, announced today by Secretary H. V. Porter, provide: (1) When a free kick does not cross the receiver's restraining line and is not touched by a re ceiver the kick will be made again after enforcement of a five-yard penalty. According to the old rule there was no penalty. (2) Acts of encroachment on the neutral zone were classified as fol lows: Between the time the zone is established and the time of the snap no player shall be W the zone In such a way as to touch an op ponent, delay the snap, or cause an opponent to charge. ' (3) In a handed pass behind the line of scrimmage the handing1 of the ball forward to an eligible player anywhere behind the line is not to be considered a forward pass. Under the old rule if the ball was handed forward to an eligible end it was necessary for him to be at least one yard behind the line of scrimmage.
