Pag Two Bonneville Sees Coos Bay Increase MEN-AND- Post-war possibilities for the development of Coos county re sources and industries suggest a population increase of as high as 5000 by 1950, according to a sur vey recently completed by the Bonneville power administra tion's market development sec tion in cooperation with Coos of ficials. Tbe report Just released shows that planned industrial utilization of Coos county resources could provide approximately 1800 new jobs by 1950. COMPLETES COURSE PFC Frederick E. Denntston, son of A. G. Dennlston, 390 West Broadway, has completed training and has been graduated as a weather observer, at Chanute Field, 111. AT FAR RAG VT Robert Alton Mee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harlen Mee, 1S4 Law rence, has begun his recruit train ing this month at the U. S. naval training station at Farragut, Ida. For several weeks he will undergo basic training in military disci pline, fundamentals of seamanship, and intensive physical drill. Later, he "will be given an opportunity to enroll in a school for special ized training, or to report for duty with the fleet. STARTS PRIMARY Arnold Harold Morris, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Ben ham of Coquille, is an aviation cadet, and has just begun the army'f primary flight training course at Thtinderbird Field II, Paradise Valley, Phoenix, Ariz. Cadet Morris ia a graduate of the Coquille high school and the Bible Standard Training school at Eu fcene. When he entered the armed service at Eugene In February of this year, he had been In the em ploy of the Chase gardens. He jrainea at Fresno, cam.; James town, N. D., and Santa Ana, Calif., before going to Phoenix. Pendleton Base Gels New Head . " PENDLETON W) Lt. Col. lames H. Clark of Portland has been named new commundlng of ficer of Pendleton field, air base authorities announced today. He jucceerls Col. Lyman L. Phillips, mho will take command of the S30th service squadron, '. Col. Clark, executive officer of the field since July 23, was called to active duty from the air corps reserve August 16, 1941. A senior pilot, he received his wings in World War I and saw action at St. Mihiel and the Argonne as a member of the 99th- observation squadron. , Col. Phillips had been com manding oflcer since April of this year. the total of 4,552 now engaged primarily in production of forest and food products. Other possibilities Include a potential post-war increase of 160 employees in agriculture, 275 in mining and metallurgy, 100 through increased tourist trade and 50 through expanded markets for fresh fish and establishment of local plants for vitamin-oil manufacture from shark livers. Successful development of Ceos county's potential industrial op portunities will create an expan sion of trade with a resulting in crease of more than 800 employes in service industries, the survey also shows. The Coos county survey is the second in a series now being con ducted by the Bonneville power administration. The primary pur pose of the administration's sur veys is to aid In appraising pros pects, for power markets and the outlook for revenue to power sys tems in various regions.
