The club wiU meet March 18 at the home of Mrs Alvis Wicks. W. B. C. met for a dessert last week at the home of Mrs. O. W. Blackmore. Baker house and lot located on West Main street was sold to Roy L. Miner. Mr. Miller and family have taken possession' and are making improvement, in the property. The George w. Potts house and large lot was .old to J. W.' Glass who with his famfly have taken possession of the premises. The Rev. Ercile White', home on south Fifth street was purchased by, Clyde W. Kinney. Mr. Kinney and his family are planning to make Cottage Grove their home. The J. nomas J. Nel son suburban home located on North River road was sold to Mrs. Cora B. Slattery of Portland. She has taken possession df the diod- erty and is planning on making some changes in the buildings. The Jessie Powell house and lot located on the east side wa. pur- cnasea by u. js. Moore who is a rural route mail carrier. The Ernest J. Geer home on West Main street wa. purchased bv Mr. and Mrs. W. T.- Jones of London, who purchased the property a. an investment. The Oscar McDole stock and dairy ranch located about 4M mile, south of Cottage Grove and containing about 471 acres was purchased by Omer M. Patten of Lo. Angeles. This ranch is con sidered one of the finest stock ranches in south Lane county in view of the fact that it has every thing which goes towards making up a real stock ranch. An abun dance of creek and spring water. outside range for stock ami timber for commercial and home use. Mr. Patten has taken possession and Is planning on marketing the com mercial timber to provide more pasture lor stock. He expected to raize both dairy and beef stock; Pomona Pomona cranee's reg ular meeting is slated for Saturday next at the Goshen grange hall, an au-aay meeting being planned. Regular committee report, will be heard. The agricul tural committee will have charge of the program on "Food, No. 1 war Necessity." O. S. Fletcher, county agent, will be speaker. A few number, commemorating Washington', birthday also will be given. Refreshment, will be served by Mr. and Mr.. Arlo Jones and the Humphreys. The Jasper Home Economic club met Thursday at the grange hall. Potluck dinner was served at noon with Ona Wheeler and Lu- cue Vitu. as hostesses. Several romper, were finished for the Red Cross. Thurston The Thurston grange met this week. The H.E. club is discontinuing its Saturday eve ning meeting now as spring work is opening up and the men will be unable to attend. The. ladies of tha ' club will meet each second Thursday afternoon and their next meeting win be with Mr. tones. Quilt block, will be worked on. The literary hour was presented by the lecturer, Mrs. Joe Wicks, who gave a patriotic program and also dedicated the service flag. Twenty-eight stars are on the flag at the present time of young men in the service who have lived at .Thurston and attended school here; also boys of grange members. One gold star is on the flag and the name is for Marvin Buchara who is reported missing in action. Five silver stars are on for overseas men and 23 for men of the im mediate community. More star, will be added a. soon as the stars that are ordered arrive. Lorane Lorane grange is to meet Tuesday evening. On the serving committee are Mr. and Mrs. C. Gl Smith and Mr. and Mr.. W. I. Seales. Dorena Tha Dorena grange met Thursday evening at the Dor ena Ladies club hall. Claude Arne in reporting for the agriculture committee stressed the necessity of growing vegetable garden, this year. Ed Finnerty discussed the growing of strawberries stating that grower, were guaranteed 11 cent, yer pound for this year's crop. Mrs. Lot Wagner told of the storage of vegetable, and Mrs. Claude Arne told of the growing of vegetable seed.. Ed Decker discussed the growing of field peas. Winner, in the recent rodent control contest were announced as follows: Donald Hands, first, win ning the $3 prize,- Robert Ward, second, $1.50: and Elbert Halter- man, third .50. Creswell At the regular meet ing of Creswell grange, Thursday evening, February 25 the birthday anniversaries of the month will be observed.
