Among their comments It was stated the session is ahead of any past ses sion in work and in legislation disposed of, that the legislature is well aware of the emergencies of the times and is looking to the problems ahead, that an accept able revenue program will have been worked out by time of ad journment. Maxey New President -New officers chosen at the meeting, James A. Rodman mak ing the nominating committee re port, include: H. Elmer Maxey, publisher of the Springfield News, president; Mrs. T. S. Stansbie of Eugene, vice-president; Miss Pa tricia Sylvers of Eugene, secre tary; Worth Harvey of Cottage Grove, treasurer; Ernest Ken nedy of Junction City, sergeant at arms. Day T. Bayly is the retiring president. Dr. A. A. Huntington, Lane county republican central committee chairman; Miss Jean- nette Calkins, chairman of the Lane county chapter of Pro Amer ica; Clitton Culp, president of the Lane county Young Republican club; Adam Lefor, past state pres ident of the federation of Young Republican clubs; Robert M. Fischer, Jr., state president of the Oregon Republican clubs; Ken neth Nielsen, secretary of the state republican central committee. Mrs. Sallie Shahan, Springfield, Dies Mrs. Sallie Catherine Shahan, a resident of Springfield for the last 40 years, died at her home on Friday morning, Feb. 12. Sallie Wheeless was born In Georgia, Oct. 30, 1879. She came to Oregon from Texas in 1001 with her hus band, William H. Shahan, whom she had married in Texas. Besides her husband, she Is sur vived by six children: Oren of Eugene; Mrs. Florence Meats of Springfield; Mrs. Ila Gossler of Eueene: Mrs. Grace Helser and Mrs. Margaret Sales, both of SanlJ" f root- - Francisco; Mrs. Sophie Skinner of . wheat, red, buthel Klamath Falls; and nine grand children. Funeral service will be announced later by the Phil Bar tholomew chapel.
