in today's stock market While many
leaders were neglected.
Except for the "penny" performers,
which came out in sizable blocks, deal
ings were relatively sluggish. Numer
ous pivotals were late in opening and
a wide assortment finished at their final
quotations of Saturday. Transfers ap
proximated 300.000 shares.
International Telephone, fastest mover
of last week, retained Its liveliness and
edge up to a new 2-year top along with
the common and preferreds of Colorado
Ac Southern. The latter stocks, usually
inactive, had their best turnover In some
time.
Others at peak marks for the year
or longer included Western Union, Texas
Ac Pacific railway and Goodyear.

Insurance Work
Miss Jeannette Whitty, who
resigned recently as Girl Scouts
director in Eugene, has signed a
contract to sell insurance with the
New York Life Insurance company
and expects to be working in Eu
gene for the company.
At present, Miss Whitty is in
Portland taking an intensive
course from B. M. Downie, agency
director for the Portland branch of
the New York Life company, and
upon completion of that work
will be in Eugene, probably within
the next week, to begin her new
work. During the summer, Miss
Whitty directed the annual Girl
Scouts summer camp.
