When our Revolutionary ancestors settled the country, there was nine inches of good, produc tive top soil, but careless cutting and burning off of the forest cover has resulted in erosion which has destroyed three Inches of this fer tile covering. The shocking rate at which our forests are being de nuded, with the resultant soil ero sion, is the subject on which Re public has based its newest Gene Autry musical western, "Sunset in Wyoming," which opens Sunday at the State theater. Bizarre Plot in 'Sealed Lips' A controversy which raged dur ing the prohibition era is the basis of the plot of Universale "Scaled Lips," opening Friday at the Hei lig theater. During speakeasy days, much was said and printed regarding the identity of the man known as Al Capone, - . One faction claimed that the real Capone was dead and that a substitute (some claimed it was Capone's brother) had been in stalled in his place and was car rying on at the head of his mob. Another faction claimed that al though the recognized Capone was an imposter, the real Capone was "hiding out" from his enemies. Others pooh-poohed the entire substitute-Capone belief. . The imposter gangster-chief idea, borrowed from the contro. versy of the rum-running days, has been incorporated in the plot of "Sealed, Lips" with John Litel. as the gangster and his double, and William Gargan as the Special Investigator who unravels the mystery. - I v z W NT J A V EnhyThe Holiday Season For more complete enjoyment of the Christmas season have complete freedom from laun dry worries.
