A WEDDING of Sunday last, Dec. 14, was that of Miss Helen Sherwin and Alfred E. Knowl ton. The ceremony took place in the afternoon at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and , Mrs. Floyd B. Tefft, Dr. Willis ton Wirt of the First Congre gational church officiating. Mrs. Delbert Anderson of Portland was her sister's at tendant. Her going away suit ; was black with corsage of gar denias. At the reception following the service, Mrs. Ella Marble of Hood River, aunt of the bride, cut the cake. Misses Glenna Piper and Vera Hughes served the ices and poured. As sisting about the rooms were the bride's cousin, Harry Rhorer and Miss Lily Mae Pet erson. CHARLES E. HUNT, state president of the auxiliary to the Oregon Medical society, was in Medford this week to attend a meeting of the Medi cal society auxiliary there, A Christmas luncheon was given at the Medford hotel, followed by a party at the home of Mrs. E. P. Durno. Mrs. Hunt talked to the group on the work of the : auxiliary in the state and nationally. The Medford unit decided to take up the pre paredness program of the auxi. liary and will organize a class in home nursing and other work. Mrs. A. J. Loeffler is president of the Medford group; Mrs. A. O. Halbuth, vice-president; and Mrs. Dwight Findley, secretary-treasurer. While in Medford, Mrs. Hunt was the house guest of Mrs. C. W. Lemery. Married In East Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Chase announce the marriage 6f their daughter, Miss Virginia Chase, t Heftry L. Lowry, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Lowry of Richmond, Virginia, The wedding was an event of December 13 at the First Baptist church in Rockville, Maryland. Attending the couple were Miss Eunice Elliott, formerly of Eugene, and now of Arling ton, Virginia, and Charles Irv ing Smith III of Richmond. The bride wore a white tail ored wool jersey afternoon dress with blue accessories and a corsage of orchids. Miss El liott wore a blue velveteen dress and corsage of gardenias. Rev. Mr. Cooper officiated at the service. The couple will be at home in Arlington, Virginia. Mrs. Lowry has been in gov ernment work in Washington, D. C, for the past fifteen mon ths. She is a graduate of the University of Oregon and a member of Alpha Delta Pi sor ority. ST. CLARE guild of St. Mary's Episcopal church has planned its Christmas party for Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Henry H. Norton, Mrs. Frances Newsom assisting. The party will be at seven-thirty o'clock. Each member is to take a twenty-five cent gift for ex change, and each member is to contribute twenty-five cents to Chinese relief. SPINSTERS club is holding its Christmas party on Monday evening at the home of Miss Betty Sether at seven-thirty o'clock. Miss Hope Hughes is to be assistant hostess. Century Club Dance Saturday Century club's holiday week dance is to be held next Satur day evening December 27 at the Eugene hotel as a semi-formal party, dancing to be at nine thirty o'clock. Mr. Steinhauer of the Lutheran church officiating. Lieutenant Brooke is flight surgeon with the observation corps there. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon and the University of Oregon Medi cal school. He was practicing in North Dakota when called to active army duty. He is a mem ber of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity at the University here. The bride attended Minnesota and for a time was dietician at the Good Samaritan hospital in Portland. The wedding was an event of Saturday, December 13, at a simple ceremony in St. Barn abas Episcopal church at Mc Minnville, Rev. T. H.. Ball of ficiating. A small group attend ed the wedding, including the brides' mother from Eugene. The bride wore a gold colored dress and hat with corsage of gardenias. The bride Is society editor on the ' McMinnville Telephone Register. She Is a graduate of the University of Oregon and is a member of Theta Sigma Phi , journalism society. Lieutenant Laurance, on active duty at Fort Lewis, also graduated from the University of Oregon and is a member of Pbi Sigma Kappa social fraternity and of Sigma Delta . Chi ' journalism group on the campus. TWO SHOWERS have been given recently to honor Miss Betty Plinsky, who is to be married Christmas day to Ver lin Wolfe. ' Misses Sue Elkow and Ellen Harper entertained a group of twenty at their apartment re cently for Miss Plinsky, the party being a miscellaneous shower.
