Moose To See Films
After the regular meeting of the
Moose Lodge Friday evening,
Moose and Women of the Moose
will see moving pictures of the
northwest and state conventions,
it was announced. Other pictures
will also be shown. The Moose
meeting will start at 8 o'clock.
Enlists In Navy
Duane Bruce Thomas, Rt. 2. Eu
gene,, has left for the San Diego
naval training station to begin
eight weeks of preliminary train
ing, Eugene recruiting officials an
nounced Thursday. He was enlisted
Tuesday.

State Highway Attorney Here
- J. M. Devers, attorney for the
state highway department, was in
Eugene Thursday on business con
nected with the re-building of the
highway through Eugene. He Is a
former district attorney of Lane
county.

projects and advertising for the

from the city recorder's office in
the - city hall here today. They
were both for violation of the
basic rule of the road.. Those who

STOP SIGNS
SPRINGFIELD. Aug. 21 (Spe
cial) Stop signs were placed on
Fifth and G. streets here yester
day, making the corner a four-
way- stop, according to Edward
Privat, city councilman. Plans are
also to put signs at the junction
of Mill and D streets today, he
said. Street name signs will be
put up in the near future, he
added.
RETURNS TO WORK
SPRINGFIELD, Aug. 21 (Spe.
cial) Bob Davis, who lives in
Berkeley, Cal., has returned to
work in Springfield after a two
weeks' visit at his home.
LETTER RECEIVED
SPRINGFIELD. Aug. 21 (Spe.
cial) From the San Diego naval
training station. Mrs. Myrtle Eggi
man has received word from
Theodore J. Vail and Ralph
Warner. In a letter today she
learned that Ralph is now in the
Marine band. Both boys were
graduates of Springfield high
school in the class of 1940, and
Vail is now in North Island in the
Base Air Detachment, 2nd division,
naval air station.

SPRINGFIELD. Aug. 21 (Spe
cial) Jackie Endicott, who has
spent two months here visiting
friends and relatives, left yester
day for hta home in Ventura, Cal.
Benjy Endicott spent three days
here on his way to Ventura from
Hermiston, Ore., where he has
been working. Jackie is the grand
son and Benjy the son of I, N.
Endicott, Springfield resident.

cial) At their regular meeting
last night, the members of the
Springfield Oddfellows lodge con
ferred the third degree upon five
candidates, four from Creswell
and one from Marcola.
Those who received the initia
tion from the I. O. O. F. group
No. 7 were Clyde Hollemon, C. R.
Clayghorn, Jr., Erbine Grousbeck,
Frank Doyle of Creswell, and
