Ad Honorary Ballots Alpha Delta Sigma, national professional advertising honorary, held their final meeting of the school year the past week and elected as president for 1941-42 Jim Frost, Newberg. Assisting Frost with his duties will be Bob Rudolph, Portland, vice-president; Douglas David, Portland, secret ary, and Howard Vierling, Eu gene, treasurer. Seven pledges in itiated by the group are Bill Ralston, Albany; Jim Thayer, Carlton; Ken Bowes, Hillsboro; Don Belding, Glendale, Cal.; Vier ling, and Rudolph. To Discuss Peace "Efforts toward a Constructive Peace" will be considered at the open forum meeting of the Com munity Liberal church (Unitarian) Sunday evening at 7:30. An effort is being made by members of the church not only to consider a reasonable basis for enduring peace between nations, but also to make a contribution to American national unity in the present crisis. The board of trustees of the church has also decided to call a general meeting of the congrega tion following the morning service June 8. Recital Sunday Miss Betty Ellis will be pre sented in a piano and organ re cital, Sunday afternoon, by her teacher, Mrs. Mary Warner. The program will be at 3:30 p. m. As sisting will be Barbara Bault, Janice Warner, Jerry McCOrnack, playing in a piano trio. Dolores Petersen and Frank Holm of Eu eene also will Play. Miss Ellis is to give the second movement of Menaeissonn's concerto in G Minor, accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Warner. Wynne Stewart Graduates Private First Class Wynne E. Stewart of 1146 east 25th street, Eugene, is a member of the largest single class of radio students ever graduated from the U. S. army air corps radio communications school located at Scott Field, 111., according to Col. Wolcott P. Hayes, commanding officer. The class just graduated, totaled 230 men. Also graduated was Private Robert F. Streit of Westfir. . Jack Hales Promoted Jack Hales of Eugene, who is sergeant at the air corps technical school, Chanute Field, 111., was recently promoted to the non-commissioned officer grade of staff sergeant by order of Colonel R. E. O'Neill, commanding officer of the post. Hales is one of 24 enlisted men of Chanute Field whose abili ties and adherence to duty war ranted this honor. Visit In Roseburg Miss Derfla Dunn and Vernon Pearson have been visiting at the home of the former's father, Dr. R. L. Dunn, in Roseburg. Miss Dunn will be accompanied home Tuesday by her father, who will attend the graduating exercises of the Northwest Christian col lege. Mr. Pearson will be gradu ated in the ministerial course in the college. Guernsey Bulls Sold The American Guernsey Cattle club, Peterborough, N. H re ports the sale of a registered Guernsey bull by G. W. Bond and son to J. Hofer of Junction City. This animal is Dasher of Prairie Bloom, 29,108. Another registered bull of the same breed has been sold by Bond and son to O. N. Petersen of Junction City. This animal is Anna's Duke of Prairie Bloom, 299,107. Reuben Youngs Here Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Young, formerly of Eugene, have re turned here for a time. Mr. Young has owned the paper, Cur ry County Reporter, at Gold Beach, Ore. for the past eight years, recently selling the busi ness. The family has moved to Eugene for the time being. Pictures at Kiwanls For the Eugene Kiwanls club program Monday noon at the Os burn hotel, movies from the Du pont Powder works will be shown. The club's board is meeting Tues day at 7:30 p. m. at the home of the president, Charles G. Howard. The club Is planning an Inter-club meeting and ladies night on June 16. Unit Meetings Close- No more home extension unit meetings will be held in Lane county this summer, it is an nounced by Miss Nellie Lyle, county home demonstration agent. This week she will be in her office every day and next week she will be at the 4-H summer school at the state college in Corvallis. Honorary Elects Tau Delta Chi, men's profes sional business honorary, has elected Allen Adams, Portland, as president for 1941-42. Other Of ficers named are Hugh Muir, Great Falls, Mont., vice-president; David Knox, Eugene, secretary- treasurer: Leonard Farr, Ccrouille, alumni secretary. T6 Graduation- Mrs. Mae Henry and' daughter, Mrs. Joe McKibben, of Eugene, left Sunday for Corvallis, where they will attend the baccalaureate and commencement exercises for the Oregon state college graduat ing class. Mrs. Henry's grandson, Bill Keppel, of Portland, is a graduate from the school of elec trical engineering. uncle, Miss Agnes O'Brien and Percy O Brien. In Portland Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hender shott spent Memorial day in Port land. The day previous Mr. Hen- dershott was a witness in a case in federal court in which the gov ernment sued to condemn a tract of land for the Fern Ridge dam reservoir. Men to Hold Dinner The Men's Brotherho6d of the First Methodist church will hold its monthly meeting at the church Monday evening. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m., and an entertain ment, speaking and business ses sion will follow. Married at the Courthouse Calvin J. Powell of Foster and June Annetta Lander of Monroe were united in marriage at the courthouse in Eugene Saturday, County Judge Clinton Hurd of ficiating. Mr. and Mrs. Caster Here Mr. and Mrs. I. D. Custer of Seaside, formerly of Eugene, are visiting in Eugene for a few days. They plan to leave soon on a trip through the east and south. Springfield Gets Taxes The city of Springfield Satur day received from County Treas urer Grace Schiska $1844.90 in taxes recently collected at the sheriff's office. Carpenters Will Nominate At its regular meting Monday, June 2, carpenters' local union will nominate officers for the coming year. Election will be held Monday, June 16. 40 et 8 The Lane County Voiture of the 40 and 8 will meet at the Del Rey cafe Tuesday at 7:30 p. m. for dinner. Nomination of officers and delegates for the coming also will be held. Plan Guest Dinner- Helmet lodge, No. 33, Knights of Pythias, will hold its guest dinner Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Knights of Pythias hall. CITY BRIEFS King's Daughters to Meet King's Daughters of the United Lutheran church will meet Wed nesday at 8 p.m., with Mrs. Wyatt Lloyd and Mrs. Wilbur Jessen as hostesses. The meeting will beat the home of Mrs. Lloyd's mother, Mrs. Arthur Lundstrom. Visiting at Springfield Miss Reta Smith of North Bend is visiting relatives and friends in Springfield over the week-end. Mrs. Erloson Goes East- Mrs. Eric Ericson leaves sun- day for Flint, Michlngan, where she has purchased a new car and will drive to Asheville, N. C, to join her husband, who has been there for several months. She ex pects to be gone three or four months. Mr. and Mrs. Price In City- Mr. and Mrs. Price, formerly of Eugene, now of Salem, have been spending the holiday week-end in Eugene and vicinity, visiting friends and relatives. Mr. Price, formerly Lane county juvenile officer, is now with the state pa role board. Benefit Thursday- Second in the series of benefit parties for the Theta Rho girls will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the I.O.O.F. hall. The public is invited. The parties are sponsored by the advisers, Mrs. W. F. Wendt and Mrs. George A. Simon. From Albany- Mr. and Mrs. W. W. McCully of Albany were here on Memorial day, visiting at the home of Mrs. McCullys grandmother.
