The supper will be in the First Baptist church at five-thirty o'clock. Auxiliary Plans For Memorial Day Plans for the observance of Memorial Day were completed at the meeting of the U. S. W. V. auxiliary Monday evening. The members will march in the pa rade, and will take part in the services to be held by other patri otic groups in the city park. From there, the auxiliary mem bers will go to the U. S. W. V. plot, and then will go to the An chorage for a water service. Wreaths for Memorial Day will be made at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hart, 1629 Moss street, Thursday, May 29, at two o'clock. Initiation was held at the meet ing. Mrs. Horace Burnett was endorsed by the group for a de partment office. Plans were also discussed for the twenty-fifth an niversary of the auxiliary in June. The carnation sale was re ported as being successful. A visitor at the meeting was Mrs. Coll, who recently moved to Eu gene from Kansas. The '98 Inner Circle will meet Monday, May 19, at two o'clock at the armory. The couple left following the re ception for a short wedding trip to San Francisco and returned May 10 to make their home at 48 Esther street, Pasadena, Calif. Hamblen-Brown Wedding May 10 Miss Cora Brown and Sylvester Hamblen were married Saturday at a wedding held at the Modern Beauty college. About forty guests attended. Dr. Williston Wirt of the First Congregational church read the service. Miss Norma Beyerlin and Mel vln Speelmon attended the cou ple. The bride wore a dress of navy silk with white accessories and a corsage of gardenias and red rosebuds. Miss Beyerlin wore navy and white, too. For the music. Miss Joy Ellean Ward played the violin. A reception followed the serv ice. Miss Garnet Johnson and Miss Lena Stewart serving. The couple will reside In Eugene. Miss Wright, Mr. Sweet ' Wed April 26 ANNOUNCEMENT has been re ceived here of the marriage of Miss Dorothy Wright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Wright of Eugene, to Guy V. Sweet, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. G. V. Sweet of Chicago, on April 26, in Oakland, Cal. Mr.' Sweet has been called east by his firm and the couple will leave May 20 for Chicago to visit his folks. (Special) The marriage of Miss Nellie June Bechdoldt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Bechdolt, to Leonard J. Ludiker, son of Mr. and Mrs, Joseph Ludiker, all of Coburg, was solemnized Sunday, May 11, in the coburg Church of Christ before a large crowd of relatives and friends of the couple. The ceremony was read shortly after noon, by Rev. Ed Powell. Preceding the service, a girls' quartet composed of Misses Lois stoneberg. Doris RIes. Corrine WcKinney and Verna Powell sang, "I Love You Truly." Miss Joanna Roork of Wendling played the wedding music. The bride was given in mar riage by her father. MOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS MEET AT BANQUET SANTA CLARA, May 13 (Spe cial) Eighty attended the motherg and daughters banquet held re cently in the Santa Clara Church of Christ. Group singing was led by Mrs. N. L. Hart. Mrs. Arthur Edwards was chairman of the program. A trio was sung by the Jeffries sisters, Mrs. Jeffries, their mother, accompanied them on the organ. Mrs. E. C. Hart spoke for the mothers while her daughter, Mrs. Robert Bennett, spoke for the daughters. A duet was sung by Mrs. C. D. Chezem and Mrs. H. C. Dobson. Including several grand officers, attended the meeting of Willam ette Court of the Amaranth Mon day evening. Among the guests were Mrs. Marie Morean. Plans were made for several of the Eugene members to go to Klamath Falls Saturday, May 24, when the grand royal matron and patron will be making their official visit there. PYTHIAN SISTERS HOLD DISTRICT EVENT Twenty-two members of Hel metta temple of Pythian Sisters lttended the district convention held last week at Corvallis. About twelve lodges were represented at the meetings, which were held luring the afternoon and evening. A banquet was also held in the svening. The convention in 1942 will be held at Dallas.
