Jesse James and Billy Rayburn, the smoothest team ever to show in the armory wrestling ring, took the meanie tandem of Bulldog Jackson and Danny McShain into camp Thursday night in the main event of Promoter Herb Owen's weekly professional grappling card. A large crowd was on hand to witness the smoothies work against the two villains and the antics of all four grapplers had the audience rolling in the aisle with laughter many times. The match started with a flurry of fists flying all directions, many landing and many missing their mark by a wide measure. The four grapplers then finally set tling down and really wrestled a few minutes but gaining no head way they started in to rough it up again with the two Puritans falling victims to the villainy and losing the first fall. McShain secured a deadly Bos ton crab on James and made him pat the maf in token of surrender. The time for James' ousting was exactly 17 minutes. Gang lip On Rayburn Both meanies then started in to work on Rayburn and one min ute later they had secured a Bos ton crab and both held on to make the champ give up. The second fall was the one that broke the camel's back, both cleanies securing hcadlocks on their opponents and rushing from corners and letting the meanies collide head-on, knocking them just about senseless. After doing this about three of four times, the cleanie tandem threw their victims to the floor and pounced on them to pin their shoulders to the mat for the full count. The time on the second fall for James and Rayburn was eight min utes. The third and deciding fall started out somewhat like the first with the meanie tandem rushing out of their corner and swinging rights and lefts to their opponents, but this time they met with stiffer competition and before one could say "Jack Robinson" Jackson found himself the erstwhile victim of a body press with all the boys piled on top, even his partner Mc Shain, against his own will of course. McShain Scalped With the hated McShain left In the ring to face two smoothies, the blood-thirsty crowd stood up and yelled for his scalp and the two cleanies were not long in scalping their victim. Rayburn maneuv ered Danny into a spine "twister and held him while James drop kicked him into insensibility thus winning the third fall and the match. The 30-minule opener brought together Taro Ito and Ace Free man, the match going to Freeman by virtue of taking two straight falls over the Japanese grappler. It took the Ace 22 minutes to dispose of the little Japanese grappler, taking all the dirty tac tics the yellow skinned lad could think of. After taking all he could stand the Ace opened up with a flurry of rights and lefts which rendered the Jap groggy and an easy victim to a package body press Korn's Bakery Wins InMcKenzie League McKenzie League bowling last night at the Eugene Recreation al leys saw the Korn's Bakery come through with a well-earned vic tory over the Bev's Barbecue team. Despite the fact that the Barbecue team rolled the highest single score of the evening a 1023 ind despite Paul Brownficld hih scores for the Barberue team Korn's still managed to come through with a 2-1 win. Other league action saw the Olsen company team defeat Gen eral Petroleum 3-0, Consolidated freight downed Standard Stations 3-0 and Montgomery Ward dropped Rubenstein's 2-1. Basketball DANCE At JOLLYTIME Oakrldge Saturday Night VERN MiNKLER'S BAND which pinned his shoulder to the mat for the count. Elton Owen awarded the second fall to Freeman by virtue of a technical foul after the Japanese grappler continued to use the.ropes and refusing to break holds. The second 30-mlnute match was staged between Otis Clingman and Red Lyons, the match going to Clingman by virtue of taking the only fall of the match. Newcomer Is Meanie Lyons appeared to be of the Puritan type when he first started to wrestle but the going got a little too rough for him and the mean ness then came out. He used all of the unethical methods known to the wrestling game to gain a fall over Clingman but the tavern op erator was just a little too smart for him. After matching Lyon's super speed and impressive style of grappling Clingman finally man euvered him into a jackknife and held him to the mat. for the full count, thus winning the first and only fall of the match. The time for Clingman on the fall was 25 minutes. With but five minutes remain ing in the match Lyons tried vainly to gain a hold that would win him a fall over Clingman but the Springfield lad used his speed and knowledge to great advantage and got out of many a dangerous hold and wrestled his opponent the re mainder of the match with neither boy gaining a fall. When the final bell rang Cling man was well on his way to tak ing a second fall throwing Lyons all over the ring with bone crush" ing headlocks but the bell saved the newcomer from losing by straight falls. The entire card was duly offi ciated by the ex-Eugcne-present-Glenwood, ex-butcher boy, present tavern operator, wrestling referee, Elton Owen.
