Ih'j of labor.
He was one of the three original
petes of the Tennessee valley
litority appointed in June, 1933,
ttae years, and was reappomt
in 1936 for nine years. As a di
ss of the authority he has been

pat of the power program which
r encountered formidable oppo-
pon from private utilities.
vent further Injury, county road
officials said Wednesday.
There is a possibility that the
heavy hauling over the road may
be prohibited altogether, County
Engineer P. M. Morse said.
The contractors are hauling rock
from Row River in the vicinity
of the steel bridge east of Cottage
Grove. The surface of the roads is
already beginning to show the
wear of the constant pounding and
it is feared it will begin to break
down in the very near future if
something is not done about it
The roads all the way from the
bridge to the dam site are affected.
The road officials Wednesday
also discussed the improvement of
the road leading from the McKen-
zie highway a short distance east
of Springfield, crossing the mill
race and extending to the Seavey
ferry on the Willamette. Two
gravel companies and one logging
outfit are using the road and it is
badly cut up. The surface never
was heavy but the county court
plans to strengthen it so that these
industrial concerns may continue
to operate.
