They were: Ralph P. Goddard, 126 C street, Springfield; Peter B. Chace, 819 B street, Springfield; Melvin A. Brandt, Wcndling; Howard L. Raymond, McKenzie Bridge; Erbert E. Carson, 1147 Harvard avenue, Roseburg. These young men left Portland lor the U. S. naval training sta tion, San Diego, Cal., to com mence an eight weeks' "period ol training to qualily them lor as signment to vessels ol the U. S, fleet.
