Springfield Two Accidents Occur In Springfield SPRINGFIELD, Aug. 21 (Spe cial) T. R. Bradham, route 2, Eu gene, was treated in Springfield for slight injuries when the motor cycle he was riding was struck by a car driven by Mrs. Stanley Fox, route l, Eugene, at 5:05 Tuesday evening. Mrs. Fox failed to stop at Fifth and D streets. Clarence "Happy" Pearce was taken to the Sacred Heart hos pital in tugene after he was struck by an automobile driven by Angela Bush, route 1, Springfield, at the corner of Tenth and Main streets at 8:30 o'clock Tuesday evening. City police Wednesday were in vestigating thefts Involving two house entries, a stripped clothes line, and a stolen car, reported Tuesday afternoon and evening and Wednesday morning. A silk comforter was reported stolen from the home of Mrs. Jean Crocker, 1367 Jefferson, some time since last Thursday. Mrs. E. E. Daniels, 629 Fourth avenue west, told police her apart ment was entered and ransacked Tuesday morning. A small -savings bank containing $3 was broKen in to, and several $1 bills were stolen from a cupboard. ' Police were called Tuesday night to 740 High, where Mrs. Mar- guante Deeds reported the theft of three pairs of silk stockings and various undergarments from the clothesline at the rear of her house. A. drill team will practice Thursday evening in Tay Junior Chamber Pushes New Safety Drive The junior chamber of com merce proceeded with -plans Wed nesday for the most extensive safety campaign ever sponsored in Eugene, and Cliff Gibson, safe ty campaign chairman, promised that the drive would get under way in the near future. Mr. Gibson appointed Vaughan Raymond chairman of the parade committee; Maurie Jacobs, pub' licity; Hale Thompson, traffic; and Max Morse, merchants. The compulsory military train lng bill, which the local group was asked to endorse, was tabled after a hot discussion. The state junior chamber last week asked Eugene members to endorse its passage by congress. Socialist Labor Party Filed Petitions Here Petitions for the formation of the "Socialist Labor" party in Oregon have been filed in the office of county Clerk Walter B. Dillard for checking of signatures. The purpose is to enable the party ticket to be placed upon the bal lot at the November election. The petitions, containing 700 names, had been in circulation on the streets here for two or three days. The following are desig nated in the petitions as a state central committee: Lester E. Harnden, Theodore Bossie, Al fred Hogland, Bertha Bossie, David Berglund, and Upton A. Upton. FROM LOSE PINE LONE PINE, Aug. 21 (Special) Mr. and Mrs. Guy Lamoreaux and family took their house guests, Mrs. Clyde Mathews and daughter, Hazel, on a trip to the coast Tues day going by way of Florence as far north as Seaside and returning by Portland.
