Hale are on the committee for the event. Plumber's orchestra will play for dancing. Cards also will, be played, and refreshments served. Several of the group are plan nihg dinner and cocktail parties preceding the dance. Panel Discussion Features P.- T. A. Edison P.-T. A. will meet at the school on Wednesday, at three o'clock. The program will open with singing by the girls' chorus of the school under the direction of Miss Delia M. Bow man. The nominating committee will make its report. A panel discussion is to be held on the subject "The unit system of in struction does it tend to foster the best physical, emotional, and intellectual development of the child?" Garden Club Spring Flower Show Planned for Tuesday and Wednesday At 4-H Building on Fairgrounds pHE spring flower show of the jLugene iraraen ciuo promises to be one of the most elaborate as yet undertaken by the local club. The show committee met the past week with the chairman, Mrs. Fred Broders, and completed plans for the two-day show, to be held next Tuesday and Wed nesday in the 4-H building at the fairgrounds. A plant exchange and sale will begin Tuesday afternoon with members bringing their surplus bulbs, plants and shrubs tied and plainly labeled. Much space is being allotted for the display of flowers with three cash prizes offered for the largest collection of different va rieties of garden blooms shrubs and plants properly named, one specimen of each variety. Floral arrangements in exhib itors' own containers, as well as shadow boxes will be judged and graded by Miss Maude Kerns, oi the art school of the university. A display of Franciscan pottery for table use and for flower ar rangements is the special feature of the show. Table settings in pottery, and others in glass, will be featured. Due to the large number of en tries expected, the show rooms will be opened on Monday eve ning for exhibitors' use only, with entries to be accepted then and not later than two o'clock Tuesday. Doors will be open to the pub lic both days from two to ten o'clock with the annual meeting and election of officers for the Garden club scheduled for Tues day evening at eight o'clock. . Tea Being Served An innovation for the Garden club is planned for the two-day meetings Tuesday and Wednes day when the Eugene Society for the Hard of Hearing will serve tea and wafers during the af ternoons, and coffee and cake bSth evenings. Mrs. G. E. Heslep is president of the group. Mrs. S. L. Peters, Mrs. S. F. Martilla and Mrs. A. Hough are to preside at the tea table Tues day afternoon; Miss Bessie Back us and Mrs. J. S. Bashaw dur ing the late afternoon, and for the evening Mrs. G. E. Heslep, Mrs. V. E. Arnold and Mrs. Rob ert Tobin. Wednesday afternoon, Mrs. J. A. Gamble, and Mrs. C. A. Le Van will seVve and Wednesday evening, Mrs. Frank L. Cham bers, Mrs. Mary C. Brockelbank and M;s. C. J. Smith will serve. Mrs. Peters, secretary, reports membership of twenty-five in the Eugene society, with club rooms in the old postoffice build ing where classes are held as well as social affairs enjoyed. There are now 119 societies for the Hard of Hearing in America with the Eugene group No. 119. 111 I , " ' : ! (Kennell-EUis photo Wilt shire engraving) Tea Planned For i Mrs. Burrows; Campus News Given Mrs. Jennie Burrows, chaperon at Sigma Kappa sorority on the campus, will be honored at a tea to be given the afternoon of Sun day, April 28, by the active chap ter and Eugene alumnae at the sorority. Hours will be from two until five o'clock, about three hundred being invited. Several dances featured the social calendar on the campus this week-end. Chi Omega entertained Satur day evening, inviting as patrons, Mrs. Clara Van Tassel, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Dahlberg, Mr. and Mrs. Marion F. McClajn, Mrs. A. H. Schroff, and Mrs. Nelson F. Macduff. Sigma Kappa sorority enter tained with a dinner dance at the Eugene hotel, Saturday eve ning. Patrons were Mrs. Jennie Burrows, Mr. and Mrs. Lester F. Beck, Mr. and Mrs. Merwin Vater, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Fury. Other Dances Listed Kappa Kappa Gamma was an other group entertaining Saturday evening at a dance. Mrs. Eliza beth Talbert, Dr. and Mrs. C. Members of the Corvallis New man club were guests. Six To Entertain At Bridge Party One of the larger parties of the coming week will be that planned for Monday afternoon by a group of six hostesses. Burton, 41 Ash street, are to observe their fiftieth wedding anniversary next Wednesday, April 23. That afternoon they will be hosts for an open house from two until five o'clock. On Tuesday evening a family dinner is to be given in their honor at the home of their son--in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Viron Moore. Mr. and Mrs. Burton were mar ried April 23, 1890, in Chelsea, Mass. They came west in 192'!. Five of their six children are living, including Harry Burton of Worcester Mass., Hawley Bur ton of North Bennington, Ver mont, Mrs. H. G. Davis of Los Angeles, Fred Burton of Eu gene, and Mrs. Viron Moore of Eugene. There are seven grand children and one great grandchild. Pro America Plans Luncheon Meeting Next Friday Noon The Lane county chapter of Pro America is meeting for a luncheon, Friday, at twelve-fifteen o'clock at the Eugene hotel. Walter Tooze of Portland will be the guest speaker. Arthur Priaulx will introduce the speak er.
