penter have learned she is in the
Good Samaritan hospital in Port
land for treatment for injuries re
ceived a year ago. Mr. and Mrs.
Carpenter lived in Eugene several
years, Mr. Carpenter working for
the telephone company. They went
to Pendleton last July.

City firemen were called out to
three flue fires Tuesday evening
and Wednesday morning. The eve
ning fires occured at 1237 Eleventh
