Here are two di versions for you. Cocoanut Upside Down Cake One and one-quarter cups sift ed cake flour, IV, teaspoons conv oination baking powder, Vt tea spoon salt, 3-4 cup granulated sugar, Vt cup softened butter or other shortening, 1 egg, well beat en, hi cup milk, 1 teaspoon va nilla. Four tablespoons butter, 1-3 cup brown sugar, firmly packed, 3-4 cup shredded cocoanut, toasted, 4 slices pineapple, cut in wedges. Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder, salt and sugar. and sift together three times. Add butter. Combine egg, milk and vanilla. Add to flour mixture, stirring until all flour is dampen ed; then beat vigorously 1 minute Melt 4 tablespoons butter In 8x8x2-inch pan or 8-inch skillet over low flame; add brown sugar and cocoanut and cook; stirring until thoroughly mixed. On this arrange pineapple wedges. Turn batter out on contents of pan Bake in moderate oven (330 de grees K.) for 50 minutes, or until done. Loosen cake from sides of pan with spatula. Turn upside down on dish with pineapple on top. Garnish with whipped cream, if desired. Serve warm. Lightening Spice Cake One and one-half cups flour, hi teaspoon baking soda, Va tea spoon salt, H teaspoon mace, 1 cup sugar, hi cup Brazil nuts chopped, 2 eggs, 1 cup thick sour cream. Mix and sift flour, soda, salt, mace and sugar. Add Braiil nuts, Break eggs into a bowl; add thlek sour cream and beat thoroughly. Stir in flour mixture gradually and beat vigorously 2 minutes until smooth and creamy. Pour into well-buttered pan, sprinkle with Brazil nut topping and bake in moderate oven (350 degrees F.) for 35 minutes, or until done, Nut Topping One-quarter cup brown sugar, Vi cud chopped Brazil nuts. Mix sugar and nuts. Booths will be set up at the postoffice, the First National bank, the United States National bank, and Penney's store. The sale will continue at these posts throughout next week and a large group of local women's or ganizations are assisting with the work. Each year the Lane County Graduate Nurses' association takes over the first entile day of the booth sales. This year Miss Robin Jones is directing the nurses in this activity. Mrs. Marvin T. Warlick is gen eral chairman for the booth sales, assisted by Mrs. Percy w. Brown. Alumnae Hold Holiday Party Tuesday Evening fLUMNAE of Alpha Chi Omega were rnieriHinea luesniiy eve-i nlng at a Christmas patty at the home of Miss Dorothy Jane Lindj with Miss Elizabeth Ann Jones as assistant hostess. In keeping with the holiday! time, the home was decorated with red candles, holly, mistletoe, pine boughs, and other Christmas fea tures. After a short business session gifts were exchanged around a Christmas tree. Refreshments were served, bridge gnmes played, and Christmas carols sung. Hon ors at cards went to Mrs. Arthur Bushman and Mrs. Frederick E. Hartung. Attending the meeting were Mrs. Bushman, Mrs. R. 1. Eides, Mrs. Hartung, Mrs. Bert C. Kerns, Mrs. Clifford R. Mnnerud, Mrs. Oden Monjay, Mrs. Hale G. Thompson, Miss Helen Bell, and the two hostesses. C. P. Groups Plan One Organization A plan to organize the different women's organizations of Central Presbyterian church into one group was discussed at the general meeting of the Ladles' Aid of the church Tuesday. Mrs. A. E. Cas well explained the plan, under which the groups would hold their separate meetings as usual, and would meet together once a month. A feature of the program was singing by the a cappella choir of the Eugene high school, di rected by Glenn Griffith. Mrs. J. D. Bryant gave a reading. The church chapel was decorated with a Christmas tree and the nativity scene. Mrs. Marsh Goodwin was In charge of the decorations, and Mrs. Slg Skavlan was general chairman for the meeting. The meeting time of the Aid was changed from two-thirty to two o'clock.
