Attention is culled to Eugencans that the Lions club boxes and bar rels are still on the streets to re ceive donations of discarded toys, but ones that can bo repaired and painted to use by the club in Its Christmas worn. The editorials might be digested by taking bi-carbonate after wards, but not that pie made by you. Who ever heard of a real pumpkin pie without a dash of ginger In it? And nutmet in a pumpkin pie is a laugh. Did you make up that recipe up like you do your other guff? Try putting a little ginger In your next pie instead of nutmeg who knows it might change what is wrong with you? I don't have to cover my pump kin pies with cream or piles of meranguc, etc. that too would spoil a real tasty pumpkin pie. I suggest you leave the pump kin pie racket to the ladies though I confess some of them could learn a little too. In fact when I get hungry for pumpkin pie I get busy and make one. Get a good cook book and scan its pages and then talk about your spices and where to out them and don't get them mixed. MRS. Autumn Building Accepted Now Advances in construction melh ods and introduction ot new materials in recent years have largely eliminated the once ac cepted idea that it was unwise to build in the late autumn or winter. One of the actual reasons why autumn building had been un popular in the past was that dwellings built for sale or rent came on the market at a time when a large body of renters were under lease and when pros pective buyers had to be shown properties under adverse weath er conditions. Among the possible advantages in autumn or winter building arc: Contractors arc usually seeking work to keep their organizations intact during the dull period; the trades desire to keep busy: mate, rials dealers search for orders to mv overhead os their establish ments and keep their staffs busy. Confessions are possible, and such concessions are frequently more than enough to offset any extra precautions which may be neces sary in winter duuqiiik. Freezing weather does not mean concrete and masonry work must be suspended. Reasonable care must be taken, however, to keep sand and crushed stone warm be. fore mixing and to protect fin ished work by proper covering. Among the speakers to be pres ent are Miss Newton of Eugene's children's home, and Mrs. Grace Hendricks, president ot me siaic missionary board. Special guests at the affair will be members of this state board. Following the meeting, a recep tion is to be held in the church.
