(Spa- eial) At a special election held in Blue River it was decided to issue warrants to finance the new wing to be built on the Blue River school. The new building is to house two classrooms, each room to hold the capacity of 39 pupils. Dimensions of both rooms are 284 feet by 23 feet, with a stage addi tion of 7 feet by 23 feet. Graham B. Smith of Eugene is the architect. SERVICE HELD WALTERVILLE, June 13. (Special) The Anderson Memor ial Sunday school held Its Chil dren's day and promotion day pro gram Sunday morning beginning with the Sunday school hour. Ten junior and young people were pro moted and the exercises included: piano solos, Louise Knox, Janet Stacy, Wanda Currant; duet, Nor ma Lou Weist, Beulah Jean Peters; Bible story, Jack Zabrlskie; saxo phone solo, Thomas Benson; Scrip ture reading, Jerry Hennebeck and Carrol Iverson. Mrs. D. E. Benson was accompanist for the special numbers. Jack Zabrlskie and Thomas Benson were promoted to the young people's class No. 2, and the others from the junior class to the young people's, No. 1. W. R. White received his pin for fifty Sundays' attendance, the primary class received rewards of merit for different work they have done the past spring and each was pre sented with a Bible. Those receiv ing them were Ardeth Scrogglns, Ellen Stacy, Duane Scroggins, Myrtle Brown, Carol Lee Weist, Charlie Joe Jennings. Others not present will receive their Bibles later. Election of officers for this Sunday school will be June 23. ANNIVERSARIES OBSERVED DEERHORN, June 13. (Spe cial) On Sunday the twenty seventh wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Irvin and the eleventh birthday anniversary of Janet Stacy were observed with a dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Osmer Stacy. In Girl Scouts At Wendl'mg Planning Benefit On Friday WENDLINO, June 13. (Spe cial) The senior patrol of the Wendling Girl Scout organization is sponsoring a basket social on Friday evening, June 16 at the community hall. The proceeds of this benefit are to be used by the girls for summer camp, which is to be held in July. Everyone is invited to attend. HALSEY NEWS HALSEY, June 13. (Special) Mr. and Mrs. Jess D. Cross and son Barton and Miss Mildred Moody have returned from their motor trip to San Francisco and the fair.' ' Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Brlggs and family, accompanied by Mrs. Briggs mother from California, returned home following their mo tor trip to the fair and other Cal ifornia points. Aletha remained in California for the summer with her aunts. Miss Katherlne Pugh of Willam ette chapter is acting as a grand page at grand chapter Order of Eastern Star this week in Portland. She is past matron of her chapter. Mrs. Elida Jenks, associate ma tron, is also in attendance, as well as Mrs. Esther Bond. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Harding will move to Sweet Home this fall as Mr. Harding has been hired to teach the upper grades at Halsey. Due to house shortage it will be necessary for them to reside at Sweet Home. LEABURG NOTES LEABURG, June 13. (Special) Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Pepiot and family are moving into their larger home this week. New Room Will Be Subject Of Vote MAPLETON, June 13 (Special) A school election has been called for June 14 to decide the matter of adding another room to the new grade school. The joining of Deadwood with the Mapleton dis trict makes it necessary to have more room than was originally planned. The building was con structed with the idea of more rooms being added as they were needed. Although the building is practically complete another room can be added at nominnl expense. CRESWELL EVENTS CRESWELL, June 13. (Spe cial) Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Howe have left to attend the week's ses' sion of the state grange at Cor vallis as alternate delegates of Creswell grange. Marjorie and Eldon Wilkins of Toledo visited with Creswell friends this week. They recently left Creswell to make their home in Toledo.' Nieta Zlniker and Hazel Fish wood registered at the University of Oregon summer school Monday. Several music students of Myron Blackwell are planning to take the special course for high school stu dents in band, orchestra and chor us at the summer session beginning next Monday and continuing for a month. The Kentish pie cherries are being har vested and the Royal Annes are ripening fast with a very good prospect for a bumper crop, ac cording to the growers. Mr. and Mrs. Willatd Huntley and their four children of Salem were guests this week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Piatt. Mrs. Piatt and Mrs. Huntley are sisters. IN COTTAGE GROVE COTTAGE GROVE, June 13. (Special) Mr. and Mrs. Knaffle Haynes attended the wedding Sunday at Roseburg of Clarence Bates of Eugene, to Miss Jean Banning of Roseburg. The wedding took place at the Presbyterian church and a garden reception at the Banning home followed. The couple will make their home in Eugene following a trip to coast points and the fair at San Fran Cisco. Sevy Molino and sister, Miss Lucy Molino, have arrived from California in company with their brother Henry for the Beidler- Molino wedding Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Knaffle Haynes went to Portland Tuesday to at tend grand chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. They were accom panied by Mrs. Minnie Willits Mrs. Velma Harrel and Mrs. K. K. Mills. Also Mrs. Emma Webster, mother of Mrs. Haynes who will visit in McMinnville at the home of her son. Miss Eunice VanDenburg has accepted a position in the Railway Express office to take the place of Mrs. Benton Schrenk who has re signed. ELKTON NEWS ELKTON, June 13. (Special) Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Bossen, Miss Faye Bossen and Miss Iris Haines attended the wedding of Clarence Bates to Miss Jean Bannins at Roseburg. Miss Bossen was one of the bridesmaids. A double wedding was held at the Walter Haines home recently when Miss Irene Haines and Wil bur Holcomb were married, and Miss Rosalie Haines and Fred Clemo were married. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Bossen and Miss Faye Bossen went to Portland Monday. While there are gone Mr. and Mrs. Bossen will attend grand chapter. (Spe cial) Newly elected officers of the Epworth league of the First Methodist church were installed by Mrs. Alice Camp, pastor, at the regular service "this week. Bond was assistant host at the meeting of Willamette chapter Order of Eastern Star last week meeting when the worthy matron and worthy patron entertained the chapter. Mrs niun McQueen. ON ALASKAN TRIP MAPLETON, June 13 (Special) Rev. Fred Durdle, pastor of the Mapleton' Evangelical church has smarted on a five weeks' vacation trip to Alaska.' Clarence Strong, principal of the high school, and Edgar Loomis accompanied him. They will leave Seattle. June 13. They are taking a light boat with them and plan to go down the Yukon from White Horse falls for about 1200 miles and up the Ta nana river to Fairbanks. The young peoples' society of the Mapleton church will have charge of serv ices Sunday afternoons -at Indian Creek during the absence of Rev. Mr. Durdle. Rev. Mr. Neff- of Florence will have charge of services at the Mapleton church for five weeks during the absence of the regular pastor. Mr. Neff was pastor at Florence for several years before reaching retirement age. , REBEKAHS TO MEET HALSEY, June 13.
