Mrs. Dora Turncy and Mrs. S. T. Rouse were In charge. Willakenzie Junior Grange Planning Party, Jan. 21 WILLAKENZIE, Jan. 13. (Spe cial) Willakenzie Junior grange, under the leadership of the newly appointed matron, Mrs. George Saunders, will hold a "pep party" at the grange hall on Jan. 21, fol lowing the quarterly potluck sup per of the grange, at 6:30. The junior grange has been too small to fill all the offices and the pur pose of the party is to interest prospective members. To be eleg ible children should be from five to fourteen years of age and their parents must be eligible for grange membership, though they need not be members. Miss Lois Lutz and Miss Maur een Scherer are cooperating with Mrs. Saunders in planning this party. There will be games for everyone and prizes to compete for. Captains will be chosen for the membership drive, the losers to treat the winning side. After the party, which is scheduled from 8 until 9:30, the young grangers will join their parents upstairs to enjoy a program prepared by Mrs. L. T. Evans and Mrs. Sherman Baldwin attended the bi-monthly Christian church convention, held in the church at Trent this week. The March meeting will be held in the Fairmount Christian church. Rev. and Mrs. Joseph Pope at tended a Salem and Portland dis trict ministerial meet in Silverton this week. OLD TREE CUT DOWN DEERHORN, Jan. 13 (Special) A huge old English walnut .tree, planted more than 50 years ago by the owners of the farm now owned by Emmett Rauch, was cut down recently. The tree, long a land mark near the highway, was planted by Mr. Anderson, pioneer ot the McKenzie valley. Two oth er walnuts of the same age have been left. They have crowded and dwarfed the other trees with their wide spreading branches. MILL REOPENS COTTAGE GROVE, Jan. 13.
