Groups Get State Honor Garden Club Holds Elections Annual election of officers was held at the meeting of the Eugene Garden club, Wednesday evening. J. F. Reade was named president and other new officers are: Mrs. B. W. DeBusk, vice-president; iMrs. Ruth Addison, treasurer; CEVERAL honors have come to Eugene P.-T. A. units and their leaders through recent awards from the state P.-T. A. Frances Willard school unit in Mrs- J- R- Nasholm, secretary. Re Eueene made the lareest irain I tiring officers were: Mrs. Carl among the Lane county groups in membership, Whiteaker of Eugene attaining the nearest to 100 per cent membership according to school enrollment. Mrs. W. S. Love, state national P.-T. A. magazine chairman for this section, won recognition for her successful program and for her efforts the national P.-T. A. mag azine is sending her to the na tional convention to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, May 15-21. To Mrs. Truman A. Chase, county P.-T. A. president, goes the award given each year to the county council head with the larg est number of new associations for the year ending March 31. Lane county now has 24 associations. Competition was close between Jackson, Lane, and Clatsop coun ties for the silver cup award based Pfeiffer, president; Mrs. W. G. Beattie, vice-president. A. T. Moses of the Willamette National Forest service spoke on conservation in regards to the na tional forests of Oregon. Edgar J. Parker, of the same service, pre sented two reels of colored motion pictures of coast and mountain scenes, wild birds, animals, and flowers. The spring flower show featured many worthwhile flower arrange ments as well as commercial ex hibits. A large crowd was in attendance. Laurelhurst school unit, Port land, was the largest in the state this year with a membership of 613 members; and Grant high, Portland, the largest among high school associations with 260 members. Ben jamin D. Dagwell, bishop of the diocese, who was here yesterday from Portland. The reception followed the con firmation services for a class of fourteen at the church, Bishop Dagwell officiating, and members of the class were honored with the visitor at the reception. Mrs. G. E. Lehman, Mrs. E. E. Umphlette, Mrs. DeMott McMorran, and Mrs. George LaBaun were in charge of the reception. Meetinr During Day The Women's Guild of the church held its regular meeting during the day, thirty-eight attending. At the luncheon at noon the monthly birthday party was held, those being presented cakes for their birthdays including Mrs. Her bert Smeed, Mrs. Mark Hathaway, and Mrs. J. Fred Gerot. Bishop Dagwell, Rev. A. J. Mockford, rec tor of St. Paul's church at Oregon City, and Rev. H. R. White, rector of the local church, were Kuests at the luncheon. Mrs. E. E. Umph lette, Mrs. K. D. Hlrons, and Miss Mary Louise Hohn were in charge of the luncheon. For the Guild meeting next week there will be the monthly meeting with the Auxiliary in the afternoon. Golf Day Eighteen played in the women's weekly golf day tournament at the Country club, Wednesday. Honors went to Mrs. Waldo J. Adams, Mrs. Rose Finegan, and Mrs. A. W. Stien.
