Broadway S RE jiinir Creswell Boy Scouts Make Plans For Circus CRESWELL, April 21. (Spe cial) Thirteen m e m b e r s were present at the regular meeting of the Boy Scouts at Mi's. Rosina Ziniker's this week. Games were played and plans talked over for the coming scout circus in Eu gene. The chariot was reported in order and the building of a signal tower was underway. Reports were given from the recent court of honor in Eugene. Gerald Clack and Alden Ellis went up for sec ond class advancement; Raymond Roberts for cycling, carpentry and handicraft; Sherwood Ellis for per sonal' health and second class merit badges; Harold Black for personal health, cycling and swimming; Earl Trabue for personal health, firemanship and swimming; and Billy Hoagland for civics, photog raphy and bird study. Guests for the evening were Stanley Barrett, Billy Melhorne and Donald Land. The leaders present were L. E. Ziniker, Billy Hoagland, Earl Smith and Harold Gwyther. Chamber Members Are Guests 01 CCC Harrisburg Students To Enter State Music Meet OAKRIOGE NEWS OAKRIDGE, April 21. (Spe cial) Mr. and Mrs. Frank Davis left Wednesday for their new home in Washington. Mr. Davis is with the forest service. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. McFarland and sons have gone on a six weeks motor trip through the middlewest going as far east as Chicago. They will visit friends and relatives en route. About 80 friends and members of the Christian church gathered at the Strand hall recently for a potluck dinner. An Easter egg hunt was held for the Sunday school. About 40 were present. Mrs. G. L. Burian who has been critically ill is able to be out again. YONCALLA NEWS YONCALLA, April 21. (Spe cial) The Glee club girls and the high school are giving an operetta, "The Sunbonnet Girl" at the gym nasium Friday evening at 8 o'clock. A picnic was held at the Hayhurst community hall recently. Rev. and Mrs. Schmidt held preaching services in the after noon. A large crowd attended. Word was received here of the birth of a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kruse of Hayhurst at the Sacred Heart hospital in Eugene. DRAIN NEWS DRAIN, April 21 (Special) Ruius Pfister recently took the grade school Marketing club to Roseburg where they spent the day. Members of the club going to Roseburg were Georgia Disbrow, Milo Haines, Forest Harris, Donald Helseth, Daisy Honnold, Wilma Keeney, Ruby Marketta, Alfleta McKee, Victor Ohlson, Elenoe Reed, Eugene Sneed, Glenn Storm, Gwendolyn Wheeler, John Wil liamson. Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Snell and Mrs. George W. Joseph of Port land were recent guests of their sister, Mrs. Buena Williams. GIVE PROGRAM SWISSHOME, April 21. (Spe cial) An Easter program was given at the schoolhouse recently each class taking part with songs and poems. Rev. Aaron Ol son gave the sermon. At noon a basket dinner was enjoyed and services held again in the after noon and evening. ARTISTIC PICTURE FRAMING LUDFORD'S PAINT SHOP REEDSPORT, April 21. (Spe cial) Camp Reedsport CCC enter tained members of the Reedsport chamber of commerce recently at a dinner, which was followed by graduation for enrollees who have completed educational courses. Sixty-seven certificates of comple- j tion of course were issued for pro ficiency in cooking, baking, diesel j engineering, blacksmithing, pub- j lis speaking, psychology, mess management, subsistence clerking and typing. Lt. Frank B. Thrail kill, commanding officer, welcom ed the visitors and complimented the graduates on their awards, and the educational adviser, Edwin O. McKeen, presented the certificates. In addition, 27 cards were present ed for completion of the standard first aid course given by the: Douglas county chapter of the I American Red Cross. This is thel largest single graduating class of CCC boys in the Vancouver dis trict to receive first aid cards. ! After presentation of the certifi-1 cates, the visitors were taken for a tour of inspection of the camp. HARRISBURG. April 21 (Spe cial) A group of Harrisburg higli school students will enter the state music contest which is to be held at Forest Grove April 29 and 30. The boys'- quartet composed of Forrest Morse, Wade Isom, Arthur Krebs and Billy Morse will sing "All Through the Night." A girls' chorus, Gloria Wadsworth, Ardith Grable. Lucille McMullen, Pearl Burk, Marjorie Holt, Helen Wag goner, Ethel May Murphy, Frances Pendell, Laura Darling. Margaret Hay worth, Margaret Holt and Rose Alice Morse will sing "Who is Sylvia?" When the temperature has been brought down to zero, they will be ready for use. - STUDY CLUB MEETS COTTAGE GROVE, April 21. (Special) The Tuesday Evening Study club met at city library for the ,'isual discussion. Miss Marietta Hamnt, president, presided. Mrs. H. B. Ferrin reported on the life of Offenbach, the composer, and "The Tales of Hoffman." Mrs. Dan Hamnt gave the life of Massenet and his opera "Manon." ARM BROKEN LOWELL, April 21. (Special) Patsy Jean Vohs, small daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Vohs, accidentally broke her arm re cently.
