Legion to Meet
The Eugene post of the American
Legion is to meet Tuesday evening at
the armory. At this time plans will
be outlined for the county conference

YOUTH LEAGUE IS
SPRINGFIELD, Feb. 2tV- (Spec-
inl) The Youth League is meeting
Tuesday nij;ht at armory lor the
regular bi-monthly Bocial. There will
be a surprise program and etpies of

tributed. According to George C.
Berremnu, League executive, a great

paper, advertising has been solicited,

On Thursday night there will be
the regular class night meetiug, when
till the groups of the Youth League
hold class instruction. A new class in

organized and has a wide interest

shown in the tap dancing class under
the direction of Paul nix, student at
the university.
Gun Club Dropped
The Rod and Gun club h.ne been

Concentrating Efforts
Work to spread the League to
other cities in the vicinity litis been
temporarily abandoned, Mr. Rerre
man nniri. "We have found that it
takes expert adult leadership to carry
out the Youth League program effic
iently," he said, "and in accordance
with the ndvice of the state office are
concentrating our efforts to make
this organization a model group until
we can find leaders with the correct
qualifications to hire as instructors
for now divisions of the League."
Polk County Court
To Visit Tuesday
The P.olk county court will visit
Lane county the coming Tuesday,
February 23, according to a letter
sent Saturday to County Judge Fred
Fisk from E. J. Himes, county sur
veyor for Polk. The purpose of the
visit is to inspect and study book
keeping methods of the Lane court,
look over road machinery and equip
ment, and generally look over county
activities. The Polk county court is
making similnr visits to other coun
ties. Oscar Cutler from the state
highway department will accompany
the party to Eugene.

See Crossing Job
County Surveyor P. M. Morse and
County Commissioner Walter J. Hol
land were at Oakridge the latter part
of the week inspecting the overhead
crossing there. Work is progressing
nicely, the two say.
At present the crews have been
putting up the huge beams which hold
up the highway over the railroad
tracks. These beams are each 1H1
feet long and weigh 20 tons each. The
railroad company is assisting the con
tractor In placing these beams.
