The sub committee has found a serious lack of uniformity and the league committee is now ready to take definite steps to ward developing a uniform system throughout the state, Mr. Franien says. Cooperation of the counties along this line has been promised by Frank Shall, president of the Association of Oregon Counties, and Judge F. L. l'hipps, secretary. OOLDSON NOTES GOLDSON, Jan. 21. MONTGOMERY-WARD IS The new Moutgomery-Ward catalog for the spring snd summer of 1037 is now being released to approximate ly 6,500.000 families throughout the United States, it was annouueed today by the local branch of the company. Officials say that the new catalog, de signed to sell merchandise for the next sir month period, gives a clear indi cation of what may be expected in the way of Improved business conditions. The new catalog gives evidence of these claims in that a wide variety of articles have been added to the line usually carried by the company stores, largest additions are found In the section devoted to fnrni supplies where a complete line of tillage tools has been added, the poultry depart ment enlarged, garden tractors listed for the first time, and a complete line of nursery Btock listed with illustra tions. All articles listed will soon be available hrough the catalog order de partment of the retail store here or will be on display in the store, accord ing to Dana P. Washburn, Ward's store manager. Distribution of the catalog will re quire about 00 days. The book is SO pages larger than those of l'.GO. aud will have a circulation increase of about 500,000 copies. The catalog also announces that site of purchases that can be made on the company's time payment plan has been reduced from ?20 to 10. William C. John Stark Evans, professor of; music at the university, has an nounced that the tvugene gleemen, i who are starting their mid-winter! good-will concerts soon, will sing in Portland February 20, at a concert sponsored by the Portland Rotary club for the benefit of tho children of the Sliriue hospital. This will be the fifth annual con cert the gleemen havo given in Port land for the benefit of the Shrine hospital Duriug the last four years, the gleemen have given concerts which earned $7,500 for the crippled childreu. Preceding the Portland engagement Sophomore Girl Will Be Soloist With Orchestra Miss Dorothy Louise Johnson, soph omore and solo violinist at the Uni versity of Oregon, who has been studying music for 10 years, will lie one of the soloists on the nation-wide broadcast to be given by the school of music January 27. Miss Johnson, a music major, will play "Zlgeunerweis sen" by Sarasate. The program, which will feature the 65-piece university symphony orches tra, will also have Hal Young, pro fessor of voice, as soloist. Be will sing an aria from Massenet's "Manon."
