It is almost News Years already.
If your house is anything like
mine, it is upset and out of order
now and you haven't the energy
to do anything about it I know!
The trick toward cleaning the
house lies in getting rid of the
Christmas decorations. You know
u well as I that there is nothing
deader than the decoration for a
holiday that is past. Tinsel seems
to lose all its glitter, ornaments
fall from the tree and splatter
in
a thousand hard-to-Dick un
pieces, the wreaths start to dry
up and fall on the rues, and the
house seems filled with the artifi
cial snow from the tree. Why not
e a party to undress the tree?
just as you had one to trim it?
can be made just as much fun
the first one was, with cider
and doughnuts, coffee and cookies
or punch and sandwiches for the
youngsters who do the work.

Party Is Ideal
, One very gay "untrimming"
party that I remember took place
when I was living on an army
post here in California. There
were about eight of us all young
married officers and their wives
who decided that when Christmas
was over, it was really going to
be over. No more of this sweep
ing up ornaments, and dusting up
snow. So, the day after the twenty-fifth,
we met to make plans.
We decided on a progressive din
ner, with a course and a tree to
be finished at each house. We
started about five-thirty, with
cocktails and the first tree. Six
found us having soup and another
tree and so on through the Post,
until we ended at the last house,
tired, full anl very gay. Inly one
ornament was broken during the
entire evening eight housewives
' had a messy job done for them
quickly and easily and a pleas
ant evening was enjoyed by eight
congenial, happy couples. It was
expensive for on one, and every
one had a good time. I recom
mend it for an easy, effortless
and inexpensive way of straight
ening the house after a holiday
crowd.

1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup unstrained orange juice
I teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon brandy flavoring
A tablespoons granulated gela
tin 6 tablespoons cold water
pints whipping cream
I cup walnut kernels
Rinse raisins in hot water,
drain, dry on a towel, and slice.
Combine fruits, preserved peels,
purees, sugar, orange juice, spices
and brandy flavoring, and let
stand for l'i hours. Heat to the
boiling point and remove from
fire. Moisten gelatin in cold wa
ter and dissolve in hot fruit; cool.
Whip cream until thick but not
stiff and whip the cold fruit into
the cream. Chop walnuts fine and
sprinkle over the bottom of a
large tube cake pan (about 10 in
ches in size). Pour cream mixture
over nuts. Place in refrigerator
or ice box overnight, but do not
freeze. Slice to serve.
Serves 18 to 20.
THIS i a distinctly Scandin
avian recipe. Richness and
goodness characterize the baked
goods prepared in celebration of
the holiday festival throughout
the universe.

wearing a form-fitting affair of
satin lastex in turquoise blue. One
can imagine how provocative this
shade will prove with a warmly
tinted sun-tanned skin, and how
lovely the clear turquoise blue
will be beside a liner's outdoor
pool or the diving board of some
desert resort's open-air plunge.
This suit is equally startling in
white satin lastex, and is conced

With the satin lastex suit the
model is wearing one of the new

The printed triangle of peasant
origin continues to be one of the
smartest and most useful of play

tied like an immigrant's head
piece under the chin are worn in
open cars and motor boats. The
galy flowered kerchiefs worn in
Dalmatia and the Tyrol are also
used in this way, though fashion
authorities do not advise this
simple under-the-chln way of
wearing them unless the face is
young and smooth. Most women
find the kerchief knotted in front
above the brow much more flat
