Numerous new hichs for the year or longer were recorded with gains ranging from 1 to around 5 points. The close was strong. Transfers approximated 1,000,000 shares. OP) Extreme dullness was generally sug gested in the market for live chickens with some recent price shading re ported. There waa a real shortage of small broilers and for that reason most operators were willing to drag more or lesa although no further price changes were suggested for the day. Demond for turkeys was rather slow with suggestion of poor quality as a rule. While there were no further price changes for the day in the butter market, easinesa was suggested In the price structure aa a result of the late decline and increasing supply. Egg market auggested a merely steady tone locally and practically without price changes for recent days. Pullet laying was suggested as the chief reason for recent increase in the supply. General steadiness with strength in spots Is suggested in the market for country killed meats. Lambs, venl and hogs were moving out well and up to quotations. Beef alone appeared a trifle uneasy. End of the season of strawberry production in volume was indicated. Prices were higher. Fancy peaa were reported in from Rninier. Pea prices were firmer to higher generally. Raspberries were in larger supply and a trifle lower. Loganberriea were In like position. Old potatoes were slow but at un changed prices, new stock a trifle easier for locals. Green and wax beans were about lc lb. lower genernlly. Cabbage and cauliflower were both lower with more arriving. PORTLAND PRICE8 nnnTl.ivn .TnnA 21.
