UP) Winter wheat acreage sown this fall was announced today by the deport ment of agriculture as 44,306,000 acres, or 105.0 per cent of that sown a year aso. The acreage sown to rye was 8,607,000 acres, or 113.3 per cent of a year ago. No estimates or probable produc tion were given. Winter wheat was harvested last year from 32.043,000 acres and pro duction was 405,034,000 bushels. Two years ago the harvested acreage was 28,485,000 and production 350,792,000 bushels. : Harvested rye acreage last year was 1,037,000 and production-16,040,- 000 bushels. Two years ago harvest ed acreage was 2,340,000 and produc tion 21,150,000 bushels. Condition of winter wheat on Dec. 1 was reported aB 77.8 per cent of normal, compared with 74.8 per cent t year ago and 82.4 per cent of the 10-ycar average 1023-32. Condition of rye was 80.4 per cent of normal, compared with 0.0 per cent of a yenr ago, and 84.0 per cent of the 10-yenr average. The abandonment of 1033 seedings of winter wheat was 21.3 per cent of the acreage sown, while of the 1032 seedings 33.2 per cent was aban doned and the average abandonment for the 10 years, 1021-30, was 12.2 per cent. Sunday morning December 23rd, the Bible school of the Church of Christ will give a Christmas program con sisting of songs, readings and a play.
