A large hair seal which was mak ing its way back to the briny deep off Heceta bench one duy tbia week wna captured by the Hugh Swift family,- who are temporarily in charge of (be Heceta Beach resort, in the absence of Mr. and Sirs. F. E. Wee- ton. The incident took place a short distance from where the road off the lieach stnrta its Incline to the resort. The aenl wna first observed by MrB. Gale Blnckwell and Mies Opal Swift, daughters of Mr. Swift, who succeeded in turning the big fish landward, whereupon Swift and his son Henry continued the task of getting Mr. Seal to adjoining cabins, where he waa ultimately taken in hand. The seal offered little resistance, which pro videa ground for the supposition that it might have been injured in a fish net encounter. The community's newly orgnnlzed cornet band is making progress, with rehearanla occurring each Monday evening in the Siualaw union high school building. The one unfortunate part of the perfecting of the band up to now, for the local Legion poat which sponsored the band, is that but IS musicians are as yet participating. This number probably presents a size able band to local people, but it has not measured up to the expectations of the Legionnaires. However there is considerable talent in tbia section and the troupe will undoubtedly be expanded from time to time. The In structor, E. R. The mill and lumber were all in flames when the fire wss discovered. so there was no chsnce of saving any thing. The estimated loss was 13000. No insiurnnce was' carried.
