Whipple celebrated her 80th birthday Monday with a dinner at noon at' which the following children and grand children were present: Mr. and Mrs. Ned Dixon, John and Mari lyn, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Whipple and baby, and Lloyd Whipple, all of Rose burg. A clinic for infants and children of pre-BChool age will be held in Drain Tuesday, July 81. This clinic will be conducted by Dr. J. E. Campbell, Douglas county health office. Ap pointments for the clinic may be made now by calling at the Simmons grocery store. e . The missionary society of the Church of Cbriat met Thursday at the home of Mrs. J. W. Beasley. Seventeen were present. Edna Harlan was leader and Mrs. Cowan led the devotlonals. Talks were9 given on Po land. Mexico, Africa, Tibet and the Philippines; Fay Peters and Bessie Lakey sang "The Ninety and Nine" accompanied by Jeona Ellenburg at th piano. Seven junior Endeavorera put on a missionary play that was enjoyed. At the close of the meeting a social time was enjoyed and the committee served homemade Ice cream to Mesdames Rruton, Benefiel, Newton, Lakey, Peters, Cowan, Gard ner, Robertson, W. E. Cowan, Coul ter, Rice, Barker, Henderson, Beas ley, Misses Frances Coulter, Leona Ellenburg, Edna Harlan. Belva and David Lakey, Donna and Jack Van Kirk, Virginia and Shirley Henderson, Grace Robertson, Elmer Lee Newton. Mavia Peters. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Blackwell re turned to Drain Wednesday from their trip to Chicago and other points. Mrs. Mabel Hall and children of Garibaldi are visiting at the home of Mrs. Anna Drain. The afternoon was spent in sewing for the hostess who served refresh ments of sandwiches, pickles, ok and punch.
