W right, of Junc tion City, a daughter. Obituaries Mrs. Edna McKern HARRISBURG, June 13. (Spe cial) Mrs. Edna McKern of Yoncalla, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. White of this place, died here Sunday morn ing at an early hour. Sbe had been ill for several months, suffering from cancer. The funeral was held at the White home this, afternoon at 1:30 o'clock and the last ritea took place at the Workman cemetery near Harrisburg. She is survived by her parents, her husband, a sister and three brothers. The latter are Ernest, Homer, Char ley and Betty. She would have been 33 years of age June 12. Mra. Christine Lythla Mrs. Christine Lytbia. a native of Denmark, died at the Pacific hospital Tuesday after a long illness. Mrs. Lythla lived for severnl yeara in the Sunset Home bere. She was born in Denmark March 30, 1S53, and since 11)00 had lived in Eugene and vicinity. She leaves one daughter. Mrs. M. P. Lasson of the Dnnebo district. She was a member of tbe 'Dauebo church. Services will lie held at the Danebo church Thursday afternoon at o'clock, Rev. Samuel J. Hansen offi ciating. Interment will be In the new I, O. O. F. cemetery. Women's Chorus of City Has Meeting The newly organised women'a choral group of tho city met Wednes day morning at the McMorran and wtoshburne auditorium for the last gathering before the summer vaca tion. Mra. Walter E. Robertson. Mrs. Lillian Seaton, Mrs. F. M. Hatha way, Miss Maude Densmore, and Mrs. h H. Johnson are the execu tive committee for the group. John Stark Evana is the director. The active program for the new year in tbe chorus will start in Sep tember when plans will be launched for a mid-winter concert. Thi summer, memhers of tha e-rnun individually will participate in the Lugene pioneer pageant, ' The Ore gon Trull." There are nearly 100 in tbe chorus at present. T Pictures of the Knowles creek road, other sections of the pro posed route F short cut to the sea and tho Florence jetties were taken by Carl Baker. Eugene pho tographer, on an aerial photograph ing trip from Eugene to Florence Tuesday afternoon. The trip was sponsored by the Eugene chamber of commerce. Twenty-six pictures were taken, the viewa showing the Knowles creek route from Mapleton to the divide, the divide Itself and the site for the proposed tunnel and various other pqlnta of Interest along the proposed route. The party flew about five miles out over the ocean and pictures were taken of the two Sluslaw Jetties. These pictures will be used In a brief for harbor Improve ments, according to H. E. Cully, secretary of the chamber. An ar tist will sketch In the proposed Jetty Improvements on the pic tures. The trip, taking an hour and four minutes, was taken In a Hobl plane piloted by Harold Sander. Passengers were Mr. Baker. Mr. Cully, Tom Sheridan, P. M. Morse, county engineer, and Tracey A. Teel, core and finely chop apples; hop suet finely, removing all skin; chop walnuta and Wend all of these with sugar, salt, raiKins, apices and citron. Peel oranges and lemons 'thin ly, shred rinds as finely as ponsihje and simmer for ten minutes in water. Raised Orange Rolls 1 cake compressed yeast J4 cupful lukewarm water 1 esc, well beaten cup aii (tar 3-4 cup ornnue juice 1 teaspoon crated orange rind 2 cups flour 1 ten.tpoon salt 8 tablespoons hot melted shortening Combine in the order givqu. The heated shortening makes It unneces sary to wnrm the orange juice. Bent thoroughly, then grndually add enough more flour to knead until smooth and elastic but not too stiff. Irft rise in a warm place until double in bulk, then knead again and roll 4 inches thick. Cut circles for Tar ker House rolls. Meanwhile have ready segments of orange made by cutting an orange in hair removing the skin and separating the section splitting them and dipping each piece in granulated sugar. As you fold the rolls enclose a piece of orange in each one. Turn the rolls In melted butter, let raise until very light, then bake 10 to 15 minutes at degrees.
