The Junction Tigers took their
first defeat from the Eugene high
nine Friday afternoon. Eugene had
the Tigers "buffaloed" in the first
inning, making nine runs. The Tigers
"came to" and Eugene only made
four more runs but shut the Tigers

The girls' gym class, directed by
Mr. Reerslev, is putting in some ex

given in his honor. He also went
to Portland for a visit at the home
of his son, Roy Cochran.

Get Improvements

Hridge, May 12. (Special) Major
Franklin and Captain E. D. Cook,
from Vancouver Barracks district
headquarters, visited Camp Belknap,
May 2 on their inspection tour of
tho district.
Captain Cook ordered ;onst ruc
tion of fire ladders for a more effec
tive fire protection fur the camp.
This order is being carried out in all
camps of the Vancouver district.
Capt. Cook . also ordered that
a new and much more convenient
kitchen be built on the south side
of the mens hall rather than on the
eastern cud. as it it at present.
Company 927 is organizing a base-,
ball, track nnd boxing team. Several
members have turned out to the '
various events. It is contemplated ;
that a boxing bout will be held j
around June 30.
Lieut. Cowan and Lieut. Robert
E. Mitchell spent one day of last
week ou a fishing trip. The com
pony was surprised to see the large
catch brought to camp. !

recitations, short readings, and sing
ing. After searching three days for a
suitable tree to make a new flag
pole, Red Morse, camp carpenter
finally reported in that he hadn't
as yet found one with a knoh on
the top.

flower, rhododendrons. And when the
tables were spread about 11 o'clock,
bowls of nasturtiums gave the bright
ening touch.
