Meeting of lawyers of the county, chamber of commerce. Plan Man Meeting The Eugene group of the Council for Prevention of War held a epe cial meeting in the study of Rev. Cecil F. Ristow. Wednesday morn ing, the ministers of the city being invited to meet with them. Plans were taken up for a mass meeting to be called at 8 p. m. on Sunday, September 24. The place nnd pro gram for the meeting will be an nounced later. The meeting here is one of thousands to be held through out the world in support of the die armament conference. Lawyers To Meat All lawyers of Lane county are asked to meet at the chamber of commerce Thursday evening at 8 o'clock, when several matters of im portance' to those in the profession will be taken up. Tentative plans for the winter's program will also be made at this time. The meeting is called by Donald M. Husbnnd, president of the Lane County Bar association, who stressed that all lawyers of the county are 'to attend the meeting. Cannery On Pears Thp cannery of the Eugene Fruit Growers association is running strong on pears now. The pear season lasts about three weeks. A few beets and beans continue to come in, but their big season is over. Petite prunes will be coming on the first of the 'week, but it will be another week yet be fore the Italian prunes are ready, it is said. A field man was out inspect ing Wednesday on the prune outlook.
