Having a direct sale in mind, Pe cora asked "if you had sold, there would have been a big profit;" "That's like saying if the dog hadn't stopped running he would have caught tlm rabbit," returned Van Kweringen. "Wasn't the purpose of the (ienevn Securities Corporation to evade by lnwfnl means this tnx?" Pccora pressed subsequently. "It seems the economic way of handling it' the- operator replied. HEILIG "The Rig Drive," authentic pictures of the World war. Ends Wednesday. McDONALD "Central A ir port," with Sally Eilerx, Tm lirown. (ilendit Farrell and Rich ard Iiurtlielmcss. Ends Thurs day. The World war rolls across the Heilig screen where "The Rig Drive" in phiying for the lat times tonight. The film is a chronologicnl arrange ment of pictures excavated from the military archives of the Germans, French, Austrian". British, Italians and Americans. While some of the ; sources from which the pictures were taken have already been exploited for : the purposes of the cinema, this lat ent entry has a completeness and a chronology that creates the excite ment of history in the making. As record of the World war, the pic ture is unique. There aro for ex ample, scenes taken in St. Petersburg ; and Moscow during the early days of j the war, in which the ill-fated Czar Nicholas is shown, reviewing his troops. ! ! Richard Barthelmess zooms into town in his latest picture, "Central Airport," today for a two-day en gagement nt the McDonald. This thrilling air story is unusual in that it glories the commorcinl fliers of peace rather than the birdmen of war. One of the moHt fascinating love triangles is formed between Dick, who believes a flier's place is in the sky, not In the home, his younger aviator brother Tom Brown, whose view-point is just the opposite, and the girl, Ho My Eitcrs, who wants Dick's love but Tom's security. Goorgo Raft, Hollywood's champion coin-flipper, has a rivnl. It's Clark (Jable who perfected a coin-tossing technique for "No Man of Her Own' which closes at the State tonight. The star developed this proficiency while rehearsing for a scene" where heads or tails decide whether or not he should "marry the girl." Carole Lom bard nnd Dorothy Mackaill have fea tured roles. Tho Match King," which closes at the Rex tonight, is one of tho most amazing true stories ever brought to the screen. It is a powerful dramat ization of the lifn nnd loves of a char acter who stole a billion dollars, forg ed n government's bonds, nnd was a power behind a dozen thrones. The role is played by Warren William with TjUi Damita ns one of his many cna- moratas. Presenting the Interesting en-starring combination of Tullulah Rank bend nnd Robert Montgomery, "Faith less opens at' the Coloninl tonignt. The picture reveals the plight of two younger members of New York so ciety who lose both wealth and social prominence ns a result of tho depres sion ami its disnstrous economic crash. Miss Bnnkhend' part entails a vivid career in which she runs the gamut from cxtremo luxury in liviug to extreme poverty. PATIENTS TAKEN Mtss Bessie Williams, county health nurse, went to Portland Wednesday with two patients, one an outpatient ror the University of Oregon medicnl school nnd the oilier for tho Doern- becher hospital. 'I have never been greatly worried exrent for a few hours Inst Sunday, but when Jimmle gets over these two water jumps he will be. home. He hns flown the route from Nome to dmonton before and Is familiar with it," she said confidently. 'He always carriea charta and things so that if one route is unavail able be can take another and not lose time. When he left Omsk for Chita he was taking the southern route and that was only one of the ways he had figured out," she said. Mrs. Mattern Indicated today that she wished other people would atlok to their "knitting and let me do a lit tle of my own non-stop flitht through this ball of yarn." Mrs. Mattern -has knitted continuously since the start, of the flight. She snid reporters and news photographers took up half her working day.
