The regular meeting of the r.eedle dub was postponed last Thursday because of illneaa of some of the members. Mr. and Mrs. Safley are moving to Eneene the last of this week as Mr. Sfley his been transferred from Rosennri to Eugene. He Is with the General Tetroleum company. Hugh Safley of Ro.eburg, and Theda Rhode, of Bprlngfield were guests. The Thurston Ladies' Aid society met Wednesday with an .11 day ses sion at the bom of Mr.. Beal. and quilted on a double Irish chain quilt for Mr.. E. V. Stiver, of Goshen. The quilt wa. a Christum gift and th block, had been made earlier In the fall by the society. A dinner was served at noon to a large number of the member, and other, cams in for the afternoon. The ladle, met again Friday to finl.h the quilt. Guest. present for Wednesday were Mr. E. V. (Special). The Coses le unit of the American Legion auxiliary held It. regular busi ness meeting Wednesday nigbt. Mrs. Larwood reported that a health and dentnl clinic wa. held in westfir re ccnt'y under the auspices of the child welfare committee. uhis committee also sponsored a community Christ- ma. tree. Mrs. Croner reported that the clothing depot was operating sat isfactorily but was in need of sup plies. The depot is sponsored by the community service committee. Two member, of this committee, Mrs. Fred Richter and Mr.. Boy Putnam, are serving a. Four-H club leader, this year. Sis paid-up memberships were reported by Mr.. W. E. Eshom. The auxiliary decided to make a quilt. The exoeutlve committee will havo charge of thio work. A district conference of the legion and auxiliary will be held in Eugene Jan. 12 and all members are urged to attend. The next meeting of the unit will be a social gathering, Jan. 18. It will be a depression pot luck supper and everyone is to come in depression attire. The committee in charge is Mrs. Fred Riehter, Mr.. 0. I. Nelson, Mrs. Roy Putnam, Mr.. James Nugent, Mrs. Frank Bingletary and Mrs. L. E. Rogers. There is still some difficulty ex perienced by those going out the high way because of the slide. Th .team shovel broke down while being taken to the slide on the new highway and it will be several days before It can bo repaired. During this time the road is being planked over the slide. The Sisterhood of the First Chrl. tian church will meet Tuesday after noon with Mrs. Edna Huddleston. About one-third of the enrollment of the grade school has been absent this week because of illness and bad weather. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wnlkef were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. 0. B. McFarland Tuesday evening in honor of Mr... Walker's birthday. The scarlet fever scare which caus ed some excitement the first of the week has no foundation, according to Dr. Gray who has been Investigating for Dr. R. C. Romig, county health doctor.
