my title, and an old tax certificnte to
J, It. Marlcy. dated in 1803 wns out
standing against the same. Thin tax
certificate was for $11.57, and in or
der to clear the title, I wns com
pelled to buy np this old tax certifi
cate, and in order to make a clear
title wns advised by my attorney to
take a deed on my certificate and this
corrective deed wns recorded Nov.
24, 1006, and the transaction was
closed Novemher 26, 11KX1, some four
years after I bought and owned the
property. A perfect legitimate trans

started at a meeting Thursday night
at the Osburn hotel. Twenty young
democrats were present. They elected
Nathan Berkham, university student,
chairman. Elise Schroeder, secretary
of the Women's Democratic league,
wns named secretary of the new
group also. Clinton Ilnight is pub
licity director. Nathnn Berkham was
one of the organizers of the state
wide club, formed in Fortlnnd last
April.
The Young Democrats took a fling
at the Zorn-Macpherson bill also, and
will carry on a campaign ngHinst it.
They adopted a resolution opposing
the school grab at the meeting.
Sam Lehman of Junction City,
democratic candidate for county clerk,
spoke. L. L. Bay opened the meeting.

RULES SET UP FOR

Regulations by which student use
of automobiles on the cam pi of high
er education will be guided were set
up at a meeting of the joint faculty
committee of the I'niversity of Ore
gon and Oregon State college at John
son hall here Friday.
The rules were announced by Carl
ton E. Kpencer, chairman of the fac
ulty of the university.
"The provision that motor vehicles
shall not be used on the campuses on
school days does not, at the present
time, exclude cars from the streets
adjacent to the campus at Eugene nor
from the parking space near the Ad-1
ministration Building," said Mr. Spen
cer. 'If necessity arises, additional
restrictions will bo made.
"The term school days includes from
Monthly morning to Friduy evening,
except holidays.
Trov8ion is being made for the
refund of the $1 automobile regis
tration fee paid by students prior to
the modification of the boards ruling.
Announcement regarding this will be
made later."
Following are the rulee establish
ed by the committee:
1. AH motor vehicles in the pos-

registration time will be formuluted.
2. A sticker for the vehicle will
be issued without charge to each stu
dent at the time of registering the
car.
8. Student motor vehicles shall not

mi t tee of the respective institutions
4. Permission to uho a motor vehi
cle will be withdrawn in every case
where It plays a detrimental part In
a student's scholarship, discipline,
social life, or general welfare. This
will be Invoked in connection with all
forms of violation of campus regula
tions and traditions. All institutional
officers and committees having the
administration of regulations, or n
any wav connected with student wel
fnre, will have the use of cars In
mind. This will be particularly true
of the scholarship committee, discip
line committee, housing committee,
nnd the like.
5. General supervision will he ex
ercised over the use of motor vehi
cles by students both on and off the
cum pus.
G. Traffic violations both on and
off the campus will be penalized.
