VEW TORK, July 21. (M Balls to the fore in a quiet and sorae hat hesitant advnnce in the stock m'l bond markets today. The dull and sold-out appearance 'of the share market prompted pro fusions! bulls to make a few experi mental efforts, which were attended wilh a mild degree of success. Trad ing quickened a little, and the day's turnover exceeded a million shares. Wall street was disinclined to try to place any definite interpretations on the developments at the London con ference, and traders generally were intent merely on killing time pending further developments. Ore.. Julv 21 0J.B Market for eggs continues to show increasing strength both locally and in a national way. Hot weather with decreasing current offerings as well as deteriorating quality are factors of most importance in the trade at toe moment. Receipts of eggs are nnt only show ing a loss in the country generally but buyers are actually offering a premium for fancy stuff out of cool ers because of the uncertain quality oi current otterings. Local receipts are holding up Bomewhat better, in fact during the last few days have increased over the same period - a week ago. Demand for butter Is so keen at this time that premiums reaching to c above the established quotations on the produce exchange are being freely offered and pnid. Normally the price offered la below the ex change. Very good demand Is reported In the market for live chickens and es pecially so for heavy hens. These are extremely scarce and killers are ad vising the country to unload before the stock gets too heavy. With practically none now arriv ing, there is a very excellent call in sight for dressed hen turkeys in the local trade, sales are reported around 2Sc lb. . While there are some offers of cheese from Idaho - at prices below those generally established, the mar ket in general appears to show more or less steadiness. Growing demand for storage is reflected. While there is a slight showing of easiness in the trade for country kill ed calves, hogs are showing strength with general sales around 12-12e for light blockers. Veal are around 13-14c-for tops with lambs just hold ing around 11c lb. Two carloads of J. H. Hale, peach es, first of the season, are here from California. The quality la mixed, some of the fruit being very good and others bruised in transit. Sales of the best are being made around ?l-2o. Local early varieties of peaches are finding quite a fair call in the trade due to the extreme quality of present offerings, together with the recent lnck of good Californias. Sales mostr ly 65-75c box.- -- ' -- Better feeling In tomato market with Californias cleaning up here. The Dalles stock is firmer and higher. Corn -market is badly glutted with sales generally down to $1.25 sack. Further shipments of sweet pota toes are due from California. New potatoes in increasing supply, are a trifle dull, but unchanged In price. , , . Apricot market Is again easier and lower btft the movement is Increasing. Walla Walla onions are reported steady at late prices but there are plenty in sight on the tracks. East Side Market Corn offerings were greatly In creased during the Tuesday session of the East Side farmers' market. Result was a sharp cut in current val ues with more or less dullness reflect ed In the buying. Sales of corn show ed a spread of $1-1.25 sack for 6 dozen enrs; an unexpected decline. Tomatoes continued to ease off with increased stocks. Sales generally $1 for fancy with a few higher. Apricots were easier with a general top of 30-55o suitcase or box. r.iin heart were scarce and firm ly priced at $1.40 doien bunches for best: a rise ot iu-joc. Potatoes continued to esse with sales 75-SOc generally for orange box es of ton quality with small stuff as low as 50c. Lettuce sold up to 90c crate for good stuff and down to 60c for ordi- ""cabbage market was firmly priced with a scarcity of offering.-. held enostlv 50c box. Summer and crooked neck squash held 50c flat crate. Danish at $1. Loganberries were scarce end firm at $1 15 generally with raspberries mostly $1. a lew i.uo-i.iu !-- berries $1. , ., . Red June apples were $1 as were Gravensteins and Dutchess. All jum- bl Beans sold 2 1-2 to 4 l-2c lb. with fancy Kentucky Wonders mostly 4- Asparagus sales were around $1.20 dozen Duncnes. Spinach was in fair call; mostly 50c "Green broccoli was around 50e box. While egga and "poultry were un changed here Tuesday, both were forecast to advance here Wednesday on buying prices. 'I he warm,. weather has grestly affected quality, of eggs witn result tnat good eggs are bring ing bieher nrices. Fresh corn dropped another five cents Tuesday, being listed down to 25 cents a dozen ears, Duyinc price. Green beans are a bit lower, quoted around 3 and 4 cents a pound, buying price. irreen peas, local grown, are oit tne market, only a few of tbem coming in to the public market, stores however, do not quote the local ones any more. Blackberries are more plentuul, general y unchanged In prices. . Ijogans and red raspberries are practically gone, so few coming in. stores say it is not worth quoting them.
