JT
Richard Fart helm fun bis made
much of the greatest role of his career
in "The Finger Points" which opens
at the Heilig Thursday Ha plays
the tiart of a Big Town reporter who
in ordnr to get money to spend on
the "sob nister" he loves, covers crime
in exchange for bribes he extorts
from gangdom.
The story is based on the recent
notorious cane of a reporter who sold
the honor of his paper to enrich him
self by gang graft. All the hair-raising
adventure which marked the origi
nal has been caught by these two
masters of melodrama.
Barthelmess portrays with rare un
derstanding the changing character of
the young man who comes from the
South with high ideals as to the duty
of the press to the public, and grad
ually falls under the power of greed
which finally brings its retribution
with the added tragedy that the pub
lic never finds out thnt he is not the
honorable man he pretends to be.
Fay Wray as the "sob sister" of
th newspaper who loves the unfor
tunate youth and keeps his secret to
the last, gives n performance of rare
beauty. Regis Toomey, an the tippling
reporter who also loves the girl, and
who. unwittingly, brings down the
vengeance of the gang on his frieud,
does admirable work.
WISE CIO' WILL
score of powerful roles, is seen as
Cherry M:ilotte. Louis AVolhrim. Joe
MrCren. Raymond Ilatton. Jean Ar
thur. Blanche Sweet. Gavin CJ onion.
Purnell Pratt and Ivan Linow round
out the notable cast.
Director (ieorge Archainband took
his company of more than one hun
dred players into the heart of Alaska,
whvre two months were spent in
shooting the scenes in th'ir actual
locale. The photographic effects arc
said to be unusual in their beauty
and splendor.
Story Packs Mighty Punch
"The Silver Horde"' is perhaps the
most powerful of all Ilex Beach
stories. The novel consents an epic
Rtrugcle among the sledge-fisted Alas
kan salmon fishermen, highlighted by
an unusual romance. There is grip
ping action and breath-taking sus
pense cm mined into scores of scenes,
topped off by all the color of the
glnmorous locnle.
The production is expected fco at
tract large crowds to the local theater
during its showing.

part of Tamea, the South Sea island
siren who. by her exotic wiles and
native charm, so blinds the scion of
a wealthy. American family that he
gives up his home, people and busi
ness to follow her to her tropical is
land. Her sparkling black eyes, wavy
abundance of black hair, soft oliv,
complexion and sinuous dunging,
coupled with her iniorn ability to
act, make- her seem a real part of
the native setting.
She is the downfall of Dan Pritch
ard. ably played by Leslie Howard,
who made such a sensation in both
the stage nnd screen versions of "Out
