This last was a very ingeniously arranged rreaK. rioya nierton it was. standing under a box with his head and hands protruding at the proper places to appear a part of the dummy seated on the box. Just how Floyd would account to bis mother for the dis appearance of a bed quilt that still had a year or two of wear in it the boys had not yet determined. Nor wus it settled how the ape man would explain to his father how the stuffing happened to be missing from the back sent of his old flivver when the fact was noted. All thnt could come later when the fever of inventiveness had cooled For the present ft was a thrilling show. Conceived, staged and acted by Michael Dorgan, it was a masterpiece of propaganda. Alike was, in real life, the boy who delivered papers in the neighborhood. He wanted a bicycle on which to mnke his rounds but be cause of something in the past bis father would not get him one. And so Mikea act (his father, he saw to it. had a first row seat) showed the suffering of a lad who was forced to walk miles each day to deliver his papers. Then he went to sleep when he stopped to rest a mo ment from his weary burden (a large paper box wrapped In a newspaper) and dreamed that he had a bicycle. He got up (still drenming) and found it where it had been concealed on the stage beneath a pile of gunny sacks that were supposed to look like tree stumps. As he mounted the bicycle and rode happily around the ftage, Gilbert Walter, to whom it belonged, thought maybe he hadn't appreciated It enough maybe he hadn't appreciated ft enough. Mike certainly seemed thrilled. He whistled and rode and twirled his bundle (that a moment before hod been so heavy) lightly around his head and generously refrained from looking at his father. Mr. Porgan became decidedly un comfortable as understanding laughter broke loose around him. It wn, how ever, the remark of a girl sitting be hind him that stirred his anger. LOt'IS.OJ.R) Problems of recreation for tho American public will he discussed when approximate ly 200 delegates to the annual con vention of the National Conference on State Parks meet here May 27 to 29. Representatives of state and na tional parks will be included as well as representatives of semi-governmental agencies interested in the con servation of wild life and promotion of recreational sites. Among the problems which will be discussed, according to Martin A. Lewis, Jr., Chief of the Missouri Ptnte Park system, are the acquisi tion and development of land and water areas for recreation; natural history, Its scientific aspects, and preservation of wild life through the establishment of public parks, forest preserves and frame reserves.
